Making these panels traditionally was oh so genius, because the audience is looking at Achilles' scarily accurate retelling of events.
He already quotes conversations verbatim, so I can imagine that this is how he visually recalls events too! Illustrating them all in his fucked up little head...

the turnaround between "outfit sighted" and "outfit is on mars" was so profound i feel like she wore it first
also useful for dealing with background drawing anxieties: the next time you are reading a comic you enjoy try and take note of all the panels or pages with literally no background information at all. you may be surprised what you notice!

makes me wonder if the bigger story always wins, whether fictional or real. the film's own story—not just plot events, but what is told through the luscious animation—may never be as fascinating, ultimately, as the story of its creation. maybe some artists worry about this and some find it beautiful
not a new observation but: the thief and the cobbler contains some of the most baffling, dizzying, dazzling, unbelievable technical feats ever seen in animation,and yet how melancholy that those achievements can still be dwarfed by its meta narrative (if the winchester mansion were an animated film)
Yo now that you've pointed that out, on the tree with the red shading, it has both the Cool S (Chloe) and Achilles hanging from it. Like Mars wants to have both in her life! :)

Also wow Achilles' eyes are covered completely by the shine on his glasses. Can't have thoughts behind those eyes of his if there are no eyes to speak of
