More broadly, I reckon the Chris Hedges story was a great example of how - increasingly - indie media is leaving mainstream media in the dust on journalism quality and standards.

And it's notable how many of the indies are ex-mainstream people who had too much integrity to stay.

Ngl, quite enjoying the way Aussie indie media rallied to make amends for the mainstream debacle around the Chris Hedges tour. Many fine people played their parts, did their bit.

Folks, if they're willing to lie to you about a genocide, what won't they lie to you about?

Chris Hedges disclosed what a legitimate foreign/war correspondent represents. What a lifetime of observing the worst & best of mankind, not to mention the historical timeline/complexities/context that perhaps Gaza, tragically has finally made coherently obvious to the world at large.

Marr did seem incensed that hedges was being overtly biased and critical of the NPC, demonstrating how captured by the establishment he is, which was a fundamental criticism of Hedges. And why so many Palestinian journalists died with nary a word from established journalists. Zionism or not

The term is PEP (progressive except Palestine). It's very common amongst people that want to appear liberal and concerned with human rights but without running into much friction about it

He then does THE SAME FUCKING THING to Palestine, ignoring 3300 years of continuous habitation!

That is sad. I think this is less about him though, and more about how widespread and normalised Zionism is here.

When I was younger, David Marr was genuinely a fearless journalist, committed to punching up. He did some great work. His contribution to this story is so, so sad.
