Tons! The rural parts get a bad rap but the cities have massive art/music scenes. Lots of animation, too. Williams St. Studio is in Atlanta, Savannah has SCAD which is a big feeder for the animation industry, and I have a few friends from music school at UGA in Athens who compose for indie games!

that's so fair lol. I've gotten to that point where it goes from "cool, just gotta add touch events and shift everything for portrait" to "ohhhh no wait, I have to rewrite the entire UI to not rely on hover tooltips, fuuuuuuuuck" and just set the whole project down

in fact, this one probably only really applies to anything point-and-click. The big challenge is diverging UI and interaction code, which can be simple with planning, but it's really easy to write yourself into an over-entangled corner and end up with a fuck ton of annoying duplication

i absolutely subscribe to that adage 99.9% of the time. toby fox proved that it doesn't matter how many branches your dialog code has as long as the dialog slaps

(assuming the unofficial decomp is at all similar to the original source. I don't know how GMS compilations works lol)

i've never released a multi-platform **game**, so this thought is coming from a combination of a dozen shitty godot prototypes after a decade of cross-platform web and app dev work so i'm far from an expert

hypothesis: i think "you don't have to be a good coder to make a good game" only breaks down in a couple of situations

the one that made me think about it is maintaining cross-platform versions. good architecture can save you weeks of heartache keeping mouse/controller/mobile/touch versions in sync
