Brutus’s knife-sharpening deadline is in 48 hours; can YOU contribute to his whetstone-grit fund to make our dream a reality?

in fairness, out of all the conspirators only like 4 of them actually did any stabbing

the rest of them dipped their hands in blood so they had something to put in the next fundraising email

The Story of How the Fairies Put One Over on the Pirates by Former Program Director Amanda Cockrell

My friend’s mother’s 1946 fantasy novel is back in print—including the chapters the publishers thought were “too scary” for kids!

Design was approved in 2024. According to the WaPo the artist said it "represents the colonists before and during the American Revolution. He omitted the olive branch to show that the colonies had not yet reached peace, but a talon remained empty to show that they were waiting for it."

PSA:
I got a covid vaccine yesterday and my only reaction has been a sore arm. Same the last 2 times.

YMMV, but it gets so many 1-star reviews from the folks who get laid low by theirs that I want my record to stand with theirs.

Man pointing at screen that read Pi Day is a fake holiday created by math companies to sell more math.

Happy Pi Day to all who celebrate.

In addition to being an excellent fiction writer, Jo Walton is one of the finest critics of the sf/fantasy field -- so I feel honoured indeed that The Wood Wife is listed here, alongside four brilliant novels that use tradition fairy lore in vastly different ways.

You might want to share this or use it somehow when fundraising. It’s not just you!

It’s interesting that we now have multiple classes of drugs (thinking of naltrexone) that in full doses work on addiction but in tiny doses help neuroinflammation/ME/Long Covid/MCAS. Micro-dosing Tirzepatide has given me my appetite back & allowed me to gain needed weight that I lost to Long Covid

I illustrated these in scratchboard, (with digital colour) and they were such a joy to read and illustrate.

Things you may wish you didn’t know about me

Finally unpacked my backpack from November’s France/UK/WFC trip. So that I can pack it for this week’s trip to see family in Sarasota, Florida. For which I do not need rubber bands, preserved milk, GBpounds or Euros.

A view of Glasgow city at night taken from a car on the motorway. In the middle of the city is a huge plume of smoke with an orange glow clearly visible

We even saw it from the motorway as we got back tonight, a huge plume of smoke above the city

LIVE updates from Glasgow's Union Street as multiple buildings collapse The fire took hold on Union Street this afternoon, before speading to Gordon Street. Glasgow Central is closed and a nearby hotel has been evacuated.

Updates on the Union St fire in Glasgow

The Union Corner was built in 1851 so is a huge loss of architecture as well as the livelihoods of numerous folk. When it's finally out we'll need answers as to why it wasn't controllable

I've only visited Glasgow in 2024 for Worldcon (a lovely city) and like many (most?) arrived and departed via the central station. So devastating.

I am very fond of cinnamon.
I don't think there's much you could put cinnamon on that I wouldn't like.

I am going to be in Madison, Wisconsin (US) for a couple days in the general future. Any recommendations for niche/weird museums/places to visit? Or of the major art museums, which are your favorite? Note: any ancient art would be especially interesting.

I LOVE THIS BOOK!
Had the honor of getting an advance copy to blurb. Which I duly did, with pleasure.

A luminous full moon rises in the sky, prominently featured against the dusky blue of early night. In the foreground, a line of Eurasian cranes is silhouetted in mid-flight, their long legs and necks stretched out as they navigate by the moonlight.

Look to the sky tonight for March's full moon 🌕🍃

Also known as the Worm Moon, it marks the shift in seasons as the soil warms, earthworms re-emerge, and nature awakens.

It has many other names including: Lenten, Plough, Crow, & Sap Moon.

🕖 Moonrise: 18:09*

God. Everyone was showing hamentaschen off & talking best fillings tonight on Family Zoom.
I have nothing.
I’ll just have cut out a triangle of cardboard and eat it.
