Quite aside from the taste… R v Archer, ex p Barrow, Lane & Ballard Ltd (1983) 147 JP 503 - consignment of dates heavily infested with insects “unwholesome” for most purposes (so liable to destruction) but not for use for the manufacture of brown sauce. 🤢
