Fuckin love Gene Honda
This is what you’re capable of when you enact strategies to prevent yourself from becoming legible by the modernist “seeing” state.
Listening to Tom Izzo talk about Jeremy Fears
very funny to hear James defending playing the Aragon
It is a CRIME that @ericshap.bsky.social isn’t followed by every human with an interest in basketball or Michigan sports on this site.
Michigan hoops has never been more interesting and every video he posts here is better than _any_ post I’ve ever made.
Also I don’t think the median age of their audience has changed at all? Certainly not much.
Respect to James being like “Aragon’s sound doesn’t suck if you just care about how to make it sound good”

📋🏀 Dusty May drew up an Aday Mara fake ball screen backdoor for the game winner — the same play Michigan ran to close the first half.
Worked to perfection against Iowa's off-ball denials.
On Michigan's switching, gap help, BLOB defense, and Aday Mara:

Michigan kept going back to Spain pick & roll sets in the 2nd half at Iowa — scoring out of the action 4 times:
This is avg wages times avg hours times all employees, among the many proxies for NGDP growth you can construct.
The Q is what proportion of growth will the Fed tolerate as inflation before it decides it just can’t hit 4.5% growth anymore and we just drag along or worse.
Oh yeah absolutely agree with this. It’s gotten much better bc people realized they live in a society and CPD started doing _some_ enforcement.
But still plenty of absolute psychos out there. Last one before tonight also took time out to yell at me, a guy pushing a toddler in a stroller.
I’m really sick of nearly dying every 6 months on Chicago between California and Western bc assholes blow through stop signs in the bus lane.
Really don’t know what to do about it.
Holy shit
Hall of famer easily
I’m an Artisanal Boutique Handcrafted millennial so I do really cherish an excellent pour over and have had Yemeni beans from time to time. I hadn’t noticed they were more special than anything else? So I find the trend somewhat baffling
not an expert at all but from what I can tell it’s a few things? it’s inescapable in the Detroit metro area and it’s (1) Yemeni owned coffee shops making (2) Yemeni-sourced coffee with (3) sometimes traditional Yemeni preparations
but you can for sure just get a latte if you want
Reading Michael Barclay's fantastic history of Canadian music from 2000-2005 (Hearts on Fire).
One thing that really jumps out is how often musicians of the era credited their success to cheap rent. Small grants and a few bucks from shows go a long way when you're paying three hundred a month!
if the tournament expanders didn't want to just add, like, every mediocre HM team that had a million chances to win their way in and instead wanted to explicitly give the A10, MVC, MWC, etc. challengers in the top, say, 125, a chance to play themselves into the tournament i could see that?
I was about to agree with you but I might say that actually it helps them get their legs back on O to press and trap on D? And the way they stay organized on O you could see them pressing off rebounds, which is more and more common these days w pressing en vogue.
yeah my vague understanding there is that it like instantly went _everywhere_ and never really made a true home in Chicago the way say motown did in Detroit or soul in Memphis?
he seems to me like he has a great eye for athletic wings who can defend and pass but maybe don’t have ideal height and that’s a really good building block. but yeah what can you do at the 1 and the 5 seems most pertinent to me and I dk there.
maybe more trapping and pressing to negate height?
really curious what McCollum is going to do in year 2. he’s undeniably had success and may well have even more in the tourney for all we know. but it seems like there’s a ceiling on this team as assembled.
almost totally off my radar, what’s the story there?
Chicago blues is another story I don’t know but feel like people wouldn’t say “well yeah Chicago is to blues as Seattle is to grunge”
This is underbaked, so I’m curious how true this feels to others:
Every generation/genre has their Chicago musician but have their been whole movements that took over the US like you think of in most music cities? Instead there’s always a major contribution by some kind of weirdo iconoclast?
Benetti letting his broadcast partners know what they mean to him and the audience is something he’s done for at least as long as I can remember him as a Sox announcer and it’s one of the small things that makes him special. He loves the folks he works with.
Yea I figured that’s what you were interested in w the falling asleep thing
Jacobsen’s hands are like orbiting electrons. He only ever knows their position or their speed never both.
