3. Will is a fascinating guy and a great artist

The result is that art ends up suffering. I once resented movie critics just as fanboys always have. I hated that they got to see movies before I did. I hated when they spoiled plot points before the film had even been released. I hated when they killed the buzz for any movie I was hyped to go see. And, of course, I hated their taste in film. Oh, you werenโt a fan of the latest Batman, Mister Important? Youโd rather milk yourself to some arty, Merchant Ivory snoozefest instead? Fuck off. You donโt even like movies, you asshole. You donโt deserve your job! Movie reviews should be left to the people! Thus, my cursed wish was granted. Virtually every critic of import has been made redundant in the digital age. Richard Brody, a film critic Iโve never agreed with, wrote a brilliant piece recently on this very topic. Critics arenโt just random fartsniffers paid handsomely to shit on things you enjoy. The best critics have a deep knowledge of whatever art form they cover. That knowledge, paired with skilled writing, grants those critics an authority that @MisterMarvel609 can never attain. A good review also expands the conversation on a work of art rather than just evaluating it. Thatโs why Iโll read some reviews after Iโve just watched a flick. A seasoned critic will give me background on that movieโs production, cite its influences, and point out other things I wouldnโt have noticed and/or known without their help.

Good for you cause trying to share some kind of actual thoughts or emotions on social media is a form of self-harm

Also, I need more of this soprano but apparently, Lacey lost her channel due to a copyright strike

It has rolled out a feature that directly asks me what I want to see in my feed WHILE BLOCKING WHAT I WANT TO SEE IN MY FEED. I know this garbage site is the least of the world's problems right now, and there is nothing anyone will ever be able to do about it; I just want to yell

We got seasonal events, mods, a crackhead tryhard community of speedrunners, memes, custom maps, tinfoil lore theories, homages in music and other games, eeekhhh fanart... cameos, bonus levels, and a full-on visual remaster before the game itself.

I was casually cybergrinding and got jumpscared by a bunnygirl mindflayer. This prompted me to go through the enemy list and pick the ones that look the best with the ears.

16.04.2025 14:37 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0SEL is different. It does not have much, if any, dramatic reveals, but it has many details that produce no immediate reaction aside from "I wonder how this eventually becomes relevant", and sure enough, they become relevant several episodes later.
16.04.2025 14:37 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Thinking again on Lain's interesting take on foreshadowing.
This word is often associated with teasing some big subversion of expectations later in a story; this approach runs the risk of feeling contrived, as if to surprise the viewer was the author's entire goal.
This seems different.
That said, I did like certain aspects of BLAME! a lot. Its visuals are certainly unique. Its take on the future as an entire world of brutalist megastructures is something I haven't seen much before, with the closest being, again, Ergo Proxy and, in a way, Angel's Egg.
In a way, this reminds me of the initial impression from Ergo Proxy. However, the reason why it has episodes of seemingly far worse writing quality than the rest of the series, in the end comes down to the fact that the show is deeply self-referential with a significant degree of irony to it.

I can't say I liked it after all.
I have no clue what to make of this. What started as a cyberpunk story and continued as a messy and poorly written high fantasy quest, ended as a long sequence of surreal images with little, if any, narrative between them. Several pages-long fragments of the last volume don't have
