One of the best parts of my job is that I teach at an open-access institution and sometimes these folks wander into my classes because they're just curious about art history. One of my closest friends and disability allies is one of those former "just curious" adult students.
I read an article years ago "Laziness does not exist" and it completely changed my pedagogical approach.
pretty sure every single person who goes to grad school is doing it at least in part to try to heal something for their inner child. no one (well, _I_ do) tells you when you're applying to grad school that it doesn't actually work and that that's what therapy / energy healing / witchcraft etc is for
I'd love to talk with you more about this.
