The CASSINI Hackathon is back!

The 11th edition will take place from 24 to 26 April and will focus on leveraging space technologies and #EUSpace data to protect and manage our planet’s most vital resource: water.

From whales and eagles to mountain lions, this data supports habitat protection, anti-poaching efforts and evidence-based conservation policies.

Researchers use specialised collars and tags equipped with GNSS receivers accessing Galileo’s highly precise positioning services to monitor wildlife movements worldwide.

Giant tortoises are known for their size, longevity, and ecological role. They can weigh up to 900 pounds and measure over 5 feet in length. Their thick, dome-shaped shells act as natural armor, protecting them from predators and harsh conditions.

On #WorldWildlifeDay, it’s worth noting that EU Space technology plays a quiet but powerful role in safeguarding biodiversity.
