We are so sad to hear of the death of Tony Harrison. His work combines inspired poetic flight with demotic energy and a mastery of form. A towering figure, Faber has been publishing his work for stage and screen for over forty years. Our thoughts are with his family and friends.

That's very sad. Mick was a lovely guy. Hugely supportive. I loved his world-weary wit and irony.

In the Netherlands, too, 40+ pages is standard. Collections are also more expensive than in the UK and are produced as luxury objects.

I don't think the poetry collection of 60+ pages is the correct model for our artform. Spined books of 40 odd pages would be the way to go, plus selecteds and collecteds. 60+ pages is driven by economics, not content.

I read pamphlets frequently, bought via readings or from publishers directly. Many poets publish a pamphlet between collections. They are often more satisfying than the full collections, which are often too long.

I'm in the early stages of organising some sort of network for people who are actively translating poetry, and publishing (or hoping to publish) their translations. If you might be interested, be in touch. And do please forward/retweet!
