Using the Perspective API, we found that CPIs are nearly twice as likely to be toxic—especially among users on the political extremes:
~8.5% of CPIs are toxic
vs ~4.5% of non-CPIs in the same ideological zones.
We analyzed 3M replies from 2020 and find that 34% were directed to users from opposite political alignment.
They are more common on political topics than on everyday issues, reaching 50% on some topics. However these interactions are more likely to be toxic.

The problem with Threads was that commercial accounts migrated before the genuine users and my timeline was full of memes. There was no opportunity to settle in the platform and have a joint experience with friends.
