I say this as someone who bloviates often, but writing something narratively with Words shitty baked in CoPilot ai, shows exactly show soulless ai is at writing. All extra wording for emphasis or color is marked and suggested to cut down into one word to be concise.

I’ve got to imagine that their only valid purpose at this point is flagging really bad apples among profs (abuse, negligence, total failure to teach) which would be hard to figure out otherwise.

Fail them. My failure rate has gone way up in the last two years, but thats the appropriate response for students who fabricate sources. It would have been viewed as a very serious academic integrity violation three years ago, and it should still be viewed that way now, even if it was automatic.
