Phthalo green blue shade is always on my palette, but that's mostly because I adore the purple you can mix from it and quin magenta.

Since you're trying to stick with single pigment colors, I'd recommend skipping gamboge. You can't get a single pigment version of it anymore.

For those who haven't read it: Weir tries to be as specific and accurate about the technology and science he writes about. So the juxtaposition between that and the hand waving he does to avoid writing about the things he had to make up is *incredibly* stark. And it happens constantly.

But maybe don't end the book with Grace living on Rocky's planet? Because it *really* feels like you don't want to think about an Earth where billions of people have died waiting for the thing that fixes the sun?

I get it. It's horrifying to imagine, but it's also the foundation of the book???

The one that annoys me the most was Rocky's ship. Weir kept having Grace talk about how much he wanted to board Rocky's ship and study his tech, but emphasizing that he never could because the atmospheric pressure and heat would kill him. Great! Understandable! Ships are complicated.

I want to like Project Hail Mary, I like hard scifi.

It felt like every time Weir wasn't confident about describing something to the level of realism he wanted, he just made an excuse to avoid writing about it. It wouldn't be a problem, but it kept taking me out of the story.
