It’s been annoyingly busy so my reading has hit a lull. But I’m just finishing “Embers of War” on audiobook 👍 And I got sidetracked from “Consider Phlebas” and picked up “No Enemy but Time” on kindle. Honestly it t was just because I didn’t have the Phlebas paperback handy. I will go back. #scifi

Inverted World is high on my TBR.

I watch most of your videos :) I need to catch up on some though.

Great video. I look forward to diving into some of these.

I’m embarrassed to say that it’s the only Priest I’ve read and I know there are other books of his that are more acclaimed. But I agree, I really liked his writing and this book has a very unique feel.

Not my favorite of the three. There’s some very far out stuff in it that was sometimes difficult to wrap your head around. Micro universes etc. But good nonetheless. How about you?

The books are pretty dense so there’s a lot there in terms of ideas etc. So I’d say yes, the books are better just in terms of the scope and sheer “epicness”. The series feels tamer also, which is not to say I didn’t like it. I have to run through it again.

Weekend listening. Three chats about Bowie’s 1984 album “Tonight” with @nicholaspegg.bsky.social are all live now. A puzzle of an album that repays another listening!

It’s been years since I read this. One of the first “classics” that I read and that stuck with me. It’s of its time and his depiction of women wouldn’t fly today. But it’s so much more interesting than Starship Troopers and The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, both of which I found incredibly tedious.
