I'm giving a presentation for CAJLE in August with my professional partner @rlavrencic.bsky.social about bringing Indigeneity into the Japanese language classroom. Our door prizes will include books by @mnystudio.bsky.social (Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas), which blend Haida art and Japanese manga.

Trust me I have those students too.

I was rather impressed. I'm sure the students were a bit tense during the activity. However, a few came to me later & said they really appreciated the activity as it really allowed them to demonstrate their French abilities with a tiny bit of research about each party's platform. <3 :)

Actually they did bring up tariffs and how their party’s platform had outlined certain measures to deal with the situation. I have to say, I was rather impressed. I think the 11s were shaking in their boots thinking that they would have to somehow rise to this level of French ability next year. ;)

I have to say my French 11 & 12 IB students were FANTASTIQUES role playing Canada’s political party reps responding to student-generated questions tout en français! Questions pertained to: le changement climatique, l’économie, la justice sociale et la santé. #LangSky #LangChat #FSLchat
