As Ollie died in 1957 and Stan passed in 1964, I always felt that the Laurel and Hardy episode should have had the kids and Scoob screaming "Ghosts!" the second they met them.

Or paying decently to have the original creators back. To most current rank and file animation execs, the value is in the IP, not the creators. It's different in prime time, but for "kids shows" it's about staffing the job with whoever works cheapest, and firing them the second the job is done.

Chip Kidd recently gave us an amazing gift -- a portrait he had commissioned for us of Arleen Sorkin, both in, and emerging from, her role as Harley Quinn. The stunning image is by the magnificent Anita Kunz. I thought it only fitting to post it today, the 33rd Anniversary of Harley's debut.

That pad is a 30 year hold-over from the Jean MacCurdy days. After she left, any such custom extras like that were quickly 86ed by the incoming regime.

Today is the 30th anniversary of Freakazoid (hooray!) so I'm posting this memento from 1995. Ahh, for the dear, departed days at Warner TV Animation when the characters would gather in the courtyard at Termite Tower (AKA the Imperial Bank building) for their weekley Mallet Club beating, er..meeting.

No, he's an old Mickey Mouse comics villain from waaay far back. He has shown up in the new Mickey TV shorts, though.

Tonight's phone doodle: Inque. Haven't played with her in a minute, now she's back oozing around my consciousness again. So much fun to draw, even though I can never get her swirls quite right. The Phantom Blot seems very smitten. Forget it, Son. She'd eat you alive. Honest.
