Not sure why people can’t get that both things are true. ADL and a bunch of other voices are mischaracterizing antisemitism and hate crimes targeting Jews are on the rise.

Yes what the hell. A hate crime is not like oops I meant to be antizionist.

If someone attacks a synagogue because they're angry at Israel, that is antisemitism. It doesn't matter the reason they're angry. Targeting a synagogue because they need to take out their anger on Jewish people--and any Jewish place of worship will do--is antisemitism.

Kennedy's new US autism panel to examine potential causes A U.S. autism advisory board remade by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to include vaccine skeptics aims to steer federal research spending toward investigating causes of the condition, as well ...

It's challenging to be parsing which particulars in RFK's food policies have some truth to them when there are such harmful changes underway re: vaccines an autism. co-reported by @leahjdouglas.bsky.social

Tho much of the thinking underpins his food policies too.

American Jews have agency to oppose war and uplift arguments against war not rooted in noxious stereotypes. But the loudest voices (both antisemites and pro-Israel Jews resistant to any criticism of Israel) are much more effective at grabbing public attention. I don’t know how to change that.

Column | How to find the secret superfoods hiding in your grocery store Some $190 billion is spent annually on superfoods for better health, but the word has no legal or scientific definition, and there’s a cheaper way to reap the benefits.

Good piece from WaPo's climate coach that debunks the concept of superfoods but also tells you all plants are super and you should eat more of them, for you and the environment:

'Remember what Iowa is really about': Advocates stress solidarity, condemn anti-immigrant attacks from lawmakers at State Capitol rally - Little Village About 100 people were chanting “Immigrants are welcome here,” as a rally by the Iowa Migrant Movement for Justice (Iowa MMJ) began in the rotunda of the Iowa State Capitol […]

The rally began just hours after news broke that former Iowa First Lady Billie Lee Ray had died. Along with Gov. Ray, she helped 10,000 refugees resettle in Iowa after the U.S. withdrawal from Vietnam.

“Historically, Iowa has been a place that has welcomed immigrants," Vanessa Marcano-Kelly said.

'Safe' BPA substitutes tied to fertility damage, fetal harm, and generational effects, review finds Chemicals that replace the controversial plastic additive bisphenol A (BPA) may disrupt fertility, fetal development, and reproductive health.

Whaaat? No way, it's almost as if the scientists and science journalists on this beat shedding light on this a decade ago were right. Wow, what a surprise. And yet, a number of popular writers that want to identify as journalists called us shills for chemical companies.

Can fake meat help solve climate change? Bruce Friedrich on why we need to change the meat, not the consumer, to solve the climate crisis.

Today on Volts: meat! Bruce Friedrich argues that a) the dire environmental & social impacts of meat cultivation are rising, but b) so is meat consumption, so the only solution is c) plant-based or cultivated meat. We talk about the state of the market, the tech, & the future possibilities.

Vaccines are miracles. But undermining public health leaves populations exposed to now thankfully preventable disease. Joseph survived to become caretaker of the Pasteur Institute. When the Nazis occupied Paris, he took his own life.

Science is only as strong as the society practicing it.

Hungary holds elections in 2 months. And the US Secretary of State is in Hungary campaigning for Viktor Orban. And as you can see, Russian state media loves it.
