Though his SH/GP and PTS/GP rank 17th among skaters (low). There is undeniably LOTS of good conveniently happening at 5v5 with him on ice.

Refs got in the way, so significantly in that third period. Singlehandedly disrupted possession for the Sens twice by getting in the way. Once in the dzone, leading to a glorious chance for Toronto, and the second in the final minute, hurting Sens' ability to move puck along the boards.

Don't take my thread as advocacy for the tough guy act and "playing through it." Just working through how this management group would likely view EP40's season and this final stretch based on history and Tocchet's quotes from last week.

Vibes are bad

Foremost believer in the EP40 bounce back. Am just thinking out loud about the consequences of him leaning on injury two seasons in a row during the most critical part of the season. Injuries that the club not-so-quietly have stated shouldn't withhold him from playing or playing to his potential.

Remember, while (publicly) Pettersson was fighting through a wrist or tendinitis or whatever it was. Ian Cole played that Edmonton run with 10 stitches in his ankle.

Quinn Hughes is a *shell* of himself right now, stretching on the bench between four-minute-long shifts and still has 2G 13A in 17gp

Reading between the lines, but I'd bet the org is fucking livid with Pettersson right now. Maybe his injury makes him unplayable, but (in their minds) it's 2 seasons in a row the guy flakes on stepping up to the plate due to [injury they feel isn't as big a deal as the injuries others are battling]

A (TBD) injury that the coach is publicly saying is a "day-to-day" thing that the org thinks he can play through—also implying he isn't buying in—during the team's still-possible (however unlikely) playoff chase as a bunch of lower-lineup guys and AHLers step up...what is that going to demand?
