A $10m no-show job for the Leafs? Who does he think he is? Auston Matthews?

Can't wait for a Plinkett-style review of Squid Game Season 3, regarding how S1 to S3 might be the biggest drop-off in writing quality in the history of television. Holy fuck, what capital-d Dogshit writing. Not even "Cody hates everything" hyperbole here. Like, legitimately embarassing stuff.

Punishment. Park. 1971.1NF : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive moviesinfinity.weebly.com

Every day, a new piece of grim news from the billionaire police state, USA.

Inching closer to a world where Peter Watkins' anxiety-inducing faux-documentary Punishment Park (1971) becomes the real deal.

His playoff shots/gp, points/gp, shooting %, and rate of goals scored and conceded while on-ice have ALL improved over his regular season rates.

Though his SH/GP and PTS/GP rank 17th among skaters (low). There is undeniably LOTS of good conveniently happening at 5v5 with him on ice.

Can he PK tho?

Kirill Kudryavtsev MIGHT be *that* guy in Abbotsford right now.

At 5v5, the Abbotsford #Canucks are up 12-2 in goals in his minutes! When the game is TIED, the Farm is up 7-2! Trailing by 1+ they're up 3-0!

Might be more noise than signal because "AHL do be like dat."

still! Promising trajectory

This is, legitimately, the one time where the org would have actual lightning in a bottle available to capture and merchandise for a quick buck, and be totally justified in doing so, in stark contrast to the decades of failed attempts to manufacture the lightning themselves

IDK, but there better be shirts available for game 1 with a screenprint of a fold-up chair with "yahoo" in block text and a Abby Canucks Western Conference Finals crest on it

The message is, "It's dealt with and is over. Stop talking about it."

Maybe there are legal ramifications?

Or the egos of a bunch of AHLers don't want this bizarre incident with their PBP guy (who is never sent on the road during the regular season, mind you) to overshadow their big historic win

28.05.2025 16:58 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

all signs point to them NOT WANTING TO MAKE A CHEAP BUCK on the one totally appropriate event that could make them a cheap buck!

This is literally the easiest marketing gimmick, merch opportunity, rallying cry for their organization's AHL affiliate's PLAYOFF run

and yet....

28.05.2025 16:55 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The Canucks have (and will) always try to make a cheap buck. Selling 30 year old chairs, Ovechkin jerseys (???), cringe "team like that" merch (copying Canes' bunch of jerks meme-merch), fucking *used* player shoes, or turning every tangentially-related Canucks thing into a 50/50 raffle

and yet...

Good morning, #Canucks fans

A fundamentally historic victory for the farm team Friday night as they punch thru to the Pacific Division Finals for the first time ever.

The last time Vancouver's AHL affiliate went past the second round was back in 2015! πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’«

I'd be so pissed if I was Travis Green. I don't they're winning that series regardless, but having your momentum thrown off by the refs brainfarting twice in a fifteen minute span is brutal

02.05.2025 01:36 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

Refs got in the way, so significantly in that third period. Singlehandedly disrupted possession for the Sens twice by getting in the way. Once in the dzone, leading to a glorious chance for Toronto, and the second in the final minute, hurting Sens' ability to move puck along the boards.

Ridley Greg in the box*

The Sens third forward by PK minutes this playoffs

Adam Gaudette played 5:46 on the PK during the regular season. Sens were outscored 1-0 in those minutes.

In a do or die game 5, holding a 1 goal lead with in the box, Travis Green put him on the PK, where he picked off a pass, led a breakout, and set up the 2-0 dagger to extend the series

Rad shit

Why would any NHL coach want their reputation attached to next season's results and how it will determine whether or not Hughes re-signs in Van? Tocchet's a smart guy, he knows this team is fucked with EP40-Chytil-???-??? down the middle and zero elite wingers. Getting out while he can is smart

29.04.2025 19:53 β€” πŸ‘ 7    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

You know what? Good for Tocchet. That's exactly what this organization deserves. When you treat as many people/players/STHs as poorly as the Canucks org have over the last decade, you absolutely deserve the one guy you went above and beyond for rug pulling you to say, "nah, cya!"

An independant minority government. Canada collapses and each province becomes itMs own rogue state. It's pure chaos. Eggs are $10,000 Zimbabwean dollars each

If you can't even win your riding, your party should be a DNF in the polls. The party picked you to win. And you couldn't even convince your riding, ipso fatso, you receive a DNF and your party doesn't get any seats at the table

A team of efficiency shooters, in a season where save % dipped to its lowest point since the 1994-95 season, net just seven double-digit goalscorers across the roster.

RΓ€ty tied Miller and Pettersson by goals per-game

Two of the top players by goals per game are likely gone this summer too

yikes

From IMac... that entire middle paragraph is just a shot at EP40 for coming into the season unprepared.

These guys worked with Crosby, Letang, Malkin, and MAF and got back-to-back cups. They have zero patience for "unpreparedness" from a seven-year NHL vet.

The last sentence too 😬

Don't take my thread as advocacy for the tough guy act and "playing through it." Just working through how this management group would likely view EP40's season and this final stretch based on history and Tocchet's quotes from last week.

Vibes are bad

10.04.2025 16:08 β€” πŸ‘ 4    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Foremost believer in the EP40 bounce back. Am just thinking out loud about the consequences of him leaning on injury two seasons in a row during the most critical part of the season. Injuries that the club not-so-quietly have stated shouldn't withhold him from playing or playing to his potential.

10.04.2025 15:53 β€” πŸ‘ 5    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

Remember, while (publicly) Pettersson was fighting through a wrist or tendinitis or whatever it was. Ian Cole played that Edmonton run with 10 stitches in his ankle.

Quinn Hughes is a *shell* of himself right now, stretching on the bench between four-minute-long shifts and still has 2G 13A in 17gp

10.04.2025 15:51 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 3    πŸ“Œ 0

Reading between the lines, but I'd bet the org is fucking livid with Pettersson right now. Maybe his injury makes him unplayable, but (in their minds) it's 2 seasons in a row the guy flakes on stepping up to the plate due to [injury they feel isn't as big a deal as the injuries others are battling]

10.04.2025 15:47 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 2    πŸ“Œ 0

A (TBD) injury that the coach is publicly saying is a "day-to-day" thing that the org thinks he can play throughβ€”also implying he isn't buying inβ€”during the team's still-possible (however unlikely) playoff chase as a bunch of lower-lineup guys and AHLers step up...what is that going to demand?
