yesterday’s was Norlan Guzman-Fuentes, a Salvadoran stepfather of four. they had just bought their first house. his hobby was fishing. his partner called the Salvadoran consulate after she saw the shooting on the news and that’s how she found out. they wouldn’t release his body so she could bury him
his wife had their baby three days after he was shot. he was married to a US citizen and getting his green card. starting his own business. all that hope, all those things he was looking forward to, and now it’s gone because he got one DUI and the jail just handed him straight to ICE
yesterday’s & today’s were the two men who killed in that detention center shooting in Dallas in September. both young dads, big loving families, nothing worse than one DUI each, but they couldn’t run when the shooting started because they were shackled. ICE never bothered notifying their families
That’s terrifying! I had frequent sleep paralysis for about a year in my late twenties. With a demon who was not visible but whose presence I distinctly felt. Demon and paralysis vanished after a year never (almost never) to return. I hope yours stops soon

It’s excellent. So far I’ve made it up to the Punic Wars. It’s quite densely packed with information so I have to read it slowly but I am enjoying it. Sadly the false rhetoric of the clash of civilizations that she so deftly debunks is still very much with us
