OSU limiting participation in SACNAS is heartbreaking. I have attended SACNAS since 2003 as an undergrad, & it was the first scientific space where I felt welcome. I always bring students (pic is OSU participants at 2022 SACNAS), & now it is in our city & OSU doesn't want us to go? So disappointing.

Very bad: OSU unilaterally cancelled the registration of grad students attending the joint conference of the National Society of Black Physicists and the National Society of Hispanic Physicists. And OSU won't fund recruiting at the Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science.

Ive seen people “pranking” their partners with AI generated homeless folks in their homes with their babies and stuff. I dont understand it. Problematic is so many layers.

OSU spent many thousands of $$ on booth registrations for SACNAS earlier this year. Now they said they would rather take the financial loss than let us recruit at this meeting of >6000 scientists.

Grief is so weird because I'm going into Year 2 (upcoming in February) since losing my mom and I feel like I am struggling so much more right now. I really miss her and wish she was still here. On the way back to Cali, a wave of grief hit me so bad. I just wish she was here.

US Astronomy Graduate Admissions, AY 2025-2026

Are you someone who is interested in astronomy graduate school? This is a list of many/most departments and their expectations for admissions this year. Please feel free to spread it far and wide. If you are doing admissions and you'd like to update your entry, reach out as per the form!

So far the astronomy PhD programs that have cancelled admissions are Washington, Michigan State, and Case Western.
