but it also makes me mournful that for the majority of transmascs, they find it early transition and cling onto it bc they can't really find themselves anywhere else in media, except in this one horrific story--it's a lot.

I also had some personal health reasons. Diabetes and high blood pressure runs strongly in my family and I knew long before I started T that it was something I wanted, knowing T can raise the risk I took personal dietary measures as well. Yeah I've been told I'm "not really vegan" by other vegans bc I openly criticize people attacking others for eating meat. Meat isn't inherently cruel anyway, not all farms are factory farms, some people just...have no nuance and want to feel morally superior

One of the fucked up things about the intersection of misogyny & the ingrained societal hatred of transmasculinity is how much cis society like. Demands perceived sexual availability or desirability from the transmasculine or gender nonconforming

the magical girl genre has always been ever evolving tbh the og is often considered to be Sapphire Knight, but ofc people forget that, and you can find a ton of modern magical girl stories that explore queer themes, mirroring the original manga that inspired the whole genre

Of the 30 pieces of media we will discuss today, that to some extent feature transmasculinity: 20/30 feature a transmasculine lead character and/or centre transmasculine experiences (bearing in mind I have been specifically seeking out author diversity and media of this nature); 18/30 are created by people who are openly transmasculine; 21/30 have LESS than 100 ratings/reviews (at the time of my documentation, these numbers are obviously subject to change, and I hope after people read this, they do); 19/30 have LESS THAN 50; it bears repeating: 63% of the pieces of media that I’ve found and consumed for this project, that in some way feature transmasculinity, have less than 50 reviews/ratings. Many of these have been available for a year, or longer.

I'm early in, but so far yes! I'm sure I'll finish it in a day or two and have a full review, it's only around 70 pages

The most exciting part of this for me is that I have a lot of writing to share and discuss with this that has like, less than ten ratings on review sites, which means that I'll likely be exposing a lot of you to things you haven't read!!

I do think that a lot of trans people, esp trans men, struggle with this sort of isolation where it feels like people don't believe that we face the transphobia we do, most of them don't know the make-up of antitransmasculinity even, so we feel like we constantly have to "prove" it-

but I do love that it opens on Konemann talking about how he thought that documenting and showing people the transphobia we face would prove that it's real, when the reality is, people know it is, they just ignore it, so the process ends up being a form of self harm
