…keep pointing out how MasterCard and Visa are horrible in censoring payments, but please don’t stop at just mildly questionable stuff: we need to go all the way to also make sex workers have legal rights to use payment processors.

“illegal adult content” is puritan BS.

Bigotry must die.

We just lost another word to the dilution of meaning started with LLMs being called AI: now everything is an agent.

I read about coding agents (just LLMs chats for coding), research agents (just LLMs that query the web), agents for X (just LLMs that can do actions on X)…

Agents require agency!

"link in bio" is awful because it's built-in link rot.

As soon as you make another such post, it invalidates the previous such post and you will never know what the link was supposed to be.

"link in comments" or even worse "link in bio" is by far the most frustrating engagement hack to me.

Pleeeeease just put the link in the original post and step off of your figurative engagement maxing horse.

If these signs are right (I think they are, but the timescale might be longer), the big AI players might be already running out of time to stay significant at a tech layer.

What it’s going to matter is what mattered right after every time: design and product.

3. LLMs are no deterministic and often go off rails. Hard/near-impossible to guarantee a deterministic outcome (“production-ready apps”) with a nondeterministic system

But new AI startups NEED to make outrageous claims otherwise no one will use them: everyone would stick w incumbents!

06.08.2025 13:21 — 👍 25    🔁 3    💬 2    📌 0

1. To build production-ready apps, you need expertise to verify for production readiness. This is far more than “just” a checklist (that most such platforms do)

2. LLMs cannot audit an app for production-readiness… it’s a hard task even for devs! Companies charge a lot for audits for good reason…

An example of when something sounds too good to be true it probably is:

“A platform where you can generate AI-powered, production ready apps.”

Lots of vibe coding platforms make this claim: but none can actually deliver on it. It’s because of a mix of things (cont’d):

Impact of generative AI—quality

How will generative AI impact the quality of games produced in
the next 12 months?
Regarding quality, however, there
has been a significant shift in
opinion among developers over the
last year. 47% of respondents now
believe that generative AI will lead
to a reduction in the quality of
games produced over the next 12
months, up sharply from 34% in
2024.
This is mirrored by a decrease in the
number expecting AI-driven
increases in game quality, which
has fallen to just 11%, meaning
developers are more than four
times as likely to anticipate a
negative impact.

Interesting data from the latest Game Dev Collective survey:

A lot has changed in a year. Folks now think genAI will reduce quality, rather than have no impact, and they think it will increase quality even less.

"Developers are more than four times as likely to anticipate a negative impact."

Between not authorising foreign rolling stock, blocking night routes and refusing to sell other companies’ tickets, SNCF is significantly holding back rail travel across all of Europe! This cannot continue.

my mom taught me there's two kinds of businesses: hot dog stands and art galleries

- hot dog stands protect territory and keep competition off their turf
- art galleries benefit from more adjacent art galleries, cluster together to amplify reach/support

youre an art gallery, not a hot dog stand
