#OTD (6th Aug.) 1571: a letter was read at the General Assembly in Stirling from John Knox, who was forced to flee the Marian Civil War, but too frail to travel to Stirling. His letter warned against the โmerciless devourers of the patrimony of the Kirk.โ www.scottishrecordsociety.org.uk/membership/

Thank you! Thatโs what Iโd expect for Middle Scots as well, but English palaeography is new territory for me! Itโs from Kendal from 1587. Persouns?

Yeah, some fantastic material! John Smithโs Hammermen excerpts barely scratches the surface, but the @scotrecsoc.bsky.social is publishing the full volume, edited by Jean Munro and Henry Steuart Fothringham. It will be great when itโs out - the detail on craft altars and processions is incredible.
