This is a reflex testing hammer used by doctors to test reflexes. Testing for reflexes is an important part of the neurological physical examination in order to detect abnormalities in the central or peripheral nervous system.

Would anyone know where 'Olre' in Holland was/is? John Johnston was master and owner of the Sampson of Olre in Holland, carrying oil, salt, wine, & Spanish money in 1593.

So Capoelli mentions an Sz Tironian note which means s[ed] - Latin got β€˜but’, which in Scots usage means β€˜in addition to’. That makes the math and syntax work… Thank you for putting the focus on the Tironian angle - huge help!

Full page here. Note the math suggests 'ane' as a chopin is half a pint. They bought 15 chopins; had one donated; ended up with 16 chopins or 8 pints, but it only cost them 7 and a half shillings at 10 pence the pint (5d off for the donation) FAO: @estaitis.bsky.social @rodlyall.bsky.social
