❗KKR, the predatory US private equity firm lined up to rescue Thames Water, has pulled out. Thames Water is back in crisis.
It's time for Steve Reed to cut the 💩and bring it into public hands.

“On behalf of the President of the United States and a grateful nation, the president would like to remind you the Dow is almost at 50K.”
Just announced: Iceland has urgently moved up its referendum to join the European Union - to 29 August.
A reminder: 🇮🇸 is in many ways already a non-voting 🇪🇺 member because of the EEA. This would give them voting power to shape the laws they have to follow.
Like clockwork.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
'Imminent' would be correct in this context if used ironically. But, of course, @sentomcotton.bsky.social isn't that intelligent...
The most difficult part of playing Trump for a fool is getting ahead of everyone else who is playing him for a fool.
It looked like Putin was the clear winner for a long time, but now we see Netanyahu leaving Putin in the dust
Free and fair elections are the cornerstone of our democracy. But right now, they’re under attack.
Several Republican-controlled states have redrawn their congressional maps to give themselves an unfair advantage in the midterm elections.
Well would you look at that
The U.S. war on Iran is now estimated to cost $1 billion per day. Meanwhile Americans are told there’s no money for healthcare, hospitals, or basic social programs.
FT comments section this morning - saying what everyone else is thinking, right?

Starmer: "I will not permit, I will not commit our military personnel to unlawful action. That is not what they would expect and deserve. They are entitled to better than that."
I wish the lord would take me now.
Budanov: "The fall of Putin's regime will not bring peace to the world. The only way to security is the complete collapse of the russian Empire into free, independent states."

Did congress authorize this fucking war where American lives will undoubtedly be lost? If not, why the fuck do we have a congress? Why are we paying very large salaries and benefits to all these assholes since they do absolutely NOTHING!
U.S. military spending is set to hit a record $1.5 trillion.
Roughly half of defense spending goes to private contractors that routinely price-gouge the government.
Meanwhile, the Pentagon has failed EIGHT straight audits.
The military industrial complex is cheering today.
Welcome to existential regret...
I am closely monitoring the ongoing military operations in Iran. International military actions have a direct and profound impact on Maryland’s families and communities.
I served in Afghanistan and I’ve seen who pays the price when Washington rushes into conflict.
Countdown to Putin brazenly declaring that the US should respect the sovereign integrity of other states and not launch attacks whilst talks are progressing.
I actually am unhinged enough to think it’s not out of the realm of possibility that he launches a war to distract from Epstein files and have a reason to declare a national emergency to suspend voting. It’s not as if lost lives matter to him.
