My tweet from May 2022, commenting on an open letter from journalists asking our industry to report more accurately on Israel and Palestine, reads: “Canada also needs to reckon with how we report on and discuss the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. It's a disservice to everyone affected when we fail to acknowledge major atrocities and systemic discrimination against Palestinians.” I then follow up with a second tweet that reads: “Our job is to afflict the comfortable and comfort the afflicted. When it comes to talking about Israel and Palestine, we sometimes seem to forget that balance.”

Meanwhile, when I worked for Global, I got a call from my editor in chief telling me this tweet violated our JPP (which governs our social media rules).
