✅ Finished the first module/project of SuperHi's JavaScript course and it's fantastic 🙌 Having so much fun

A problem I'm finding as I learn to code is realising I really enjoy the process of manually writing code, it's so satisfying typing it all out. But if I keep doing that I'll be so much slower than coding with LLMs 🥲

One of my biggest worries when it comes to AI development is that the prevailing values in politics and power right now don't seem to be humility, sacrifice, empathy, and kindness.

I've just switched to SuperHi's JavaScript For Designers course, and am liking it a lot more so far already.

The course teaches the material via six real projects, and seems very tailored to designer brain 🧑‍🎨🤓

I've started to struggle with the theoretical approach of my JavaScript course.

I've worked through the basics, but without building within the framing of a real project I find it very hard to place each theoretical concept in real-world context.

Here's the rough curriculum I've assembled for myself (links in thread):

The more I look at it, the more Vue seems so much more approachable than React 👀

However this morning I stumbled on the Next.js “Learn” pages and they’ve completely exploded my brain – they answered almost all the questions I had about this. Such a lightbulb moment working through these chapters, and so well-explained for beginners nextjs.org/learn

I'd always struggled to understand how HTML, CSS, JS, React, Next.js etc all work together to form a webapp, what the relationships are, and working through my JS course has been more individual concepts and theory than this holistic explanation.

Oh no, I'm doomed 😆 Thank you man, I'm enjoying it a lot! Very challenging but very fun.

I'm working through codewithmosh.com's Full-stack JavaScript Developer Bundle, but I'm a total beginner so I'm focusing on the JavaScript Fundamentals course first.

It's pretty cool seeing how all my time spent with Bubble has meant a lot of the concepts make some sense already

Update: I regret to inform you all that coding involves maths. This is an absolutely devastating development.

Learning to code is feeling absolutely wild. I've been building with no-code platforms for 15 years now, and finally learning JavaScript feels like peeling back the workings of the universe.

I believe there’s going to be a pendulum swing where everyone in tech will start talking about how relying on LLMs is making them dumber, and it’ll start to be cool to do things manually again

Nobody does UI sound effects like Nintendo does 🤩 The Switch 2's beeps and bloops as you navigate around menus is pure delight

I'll then rebuild and transition both over to custom builds towards the end of the year.

This way I can move fast now with a platform I'm very comfortable with, Bubble, and keep learning to future-proof upcoming features when I have more time day-to-day 🤓

I'll "finish" building drawkit.com/ and milestones.so/ with Bubble to a point where I'm happy with the features short-term.

Then once they're both running smoothly day-to-day, I'll work through learning coding fundamentals and working with Cursor.

I've been trying to work out how/when/if I should move to coding with AI instead of building with Bubble this year, and I think I have a plan:
