Say what! The deterrence dreamers are at it again with their magical thinking. We disagree.

Bryan and his wife are both great people who quietly do great things for others. I’d love if #nukesky could band together to help one of our own.

We must remember the families who survived the U.S. bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and tell their stories. Listen to Sara Burkinshaw, granddaughter of a Hiroshima survivor, describe the power of storytelling in this Nukes of Hazard podcast episode.

Pregnant woman wearing a red and white traditional dress, standing alongside the banks of the Rio Grande.

In this powerful essay Beata Tsosie-Peña reflects on the experience of being a Native woman living adjacent to a nuclear weapons facility, and calls us into urgent action to protect our land, air, foods, and waters. #NewMexico #Pueblo tewawomenunited.org/2025/07/a-te...

These Are Still Nuclear Times Historian Henry Richard Maar III for Nuclear Times: “The entwined history of arms control and peace activism should remind us—we can stop and turn the clock back.”

Grateful for this ringing endorsement (and blaring warning alarm) from Henry Maar for the new Nuclear Times.

The history of nuclear science Two new accounts of the atomic age overlook its deadly past.

Excellent (and critical) @erikmbaker.bsky.social review of two recent nuclear-focused books:

"today’s atomic ambassadors seem determined to insist that whatever destructive forces their field has unleashed are ultimately someone else’s problem" www.newstatesman.com/culture/book...

Two weeks ago, on the 80th anniversary of the Trinity test, Nobel Laureates, nuclear experts, and community leaders discussed the urgency of avoiding nuclear war. I was glad to have been there. The resulting declaration and recommendations, endorsed by 120 Laureates: nobelassembly.org/declaration/

Was Nagasaki 'Necessary' or a War Crime, 80 Years Ago Today? Greg Mitchell shows that “F**ing Up” civilians was the grotesque point of the atomic bombing of Nagasaki.

‘Fat Boy’ the bomb unleashed on the people of Nagasaki had JANCFU stenciled on its nose. This stood for “Joint Army Navy Civilian Fuck Up.” @gregmitch.bsky.social (founding editor of Nuclear Times in 1982) weighs in on Gen. Groves’ callous war crime.

Relaunching the Nuclear Times The world is closer to nuclear war than any time since the Cuban Missile Crisis. We are relaunching the Nuclear Times magazine in print, in order to end the nuclear times.

In our launch letter we said the magazine, “…will be all of ours — the readers, writers, artists, activists dedicated to a world without nuclear weapons.” We mean it! Help us shape the magazine for nuclear disarmament. #nukesky

First: Hell no!

Second: We’ve been debating if Nuclear Times should cover nuclear disarmament adjacent issues like AI, autonomous weapons systems, etc. What do you think? Is this something you’d like to see coverage of in NT, or do you think it takes focus away from nuclear weapon issues?

Chilling. “Referring to American leaders, the Chicago Tribune commented: "Being merciless, they were merciful." A drawing in the same newspaper pictured a dove of peace flying over Japan, an atomic bomb in its beak.”

Book Review: How the Manhattan Project ended up in your kitchen For 82 years, the Manhattan Project has been poisoning our homes. A new book explores the cover-up.

Manhattan Project chemists and military brass knew the “miracle” compound they created was killing crops, crippling cows and accumulating in our blood stream. Instead of warning the public they took jobs at 3M and DuPont and spread the chemical into everyone’s home.
