Follow up cuz I've been thinking about it: Open worlds are about locations, metroidvanias are about destinations

no one will like this(deservedly)....but I felt a need! to create! 🎨

I feel like this is actually way more deep than it initially seems. Think about it. It's not so much literal fields and literal roads, but it still fits. Open world is about these wide areas where you can go in any direction you like. Metroidvanias are about a target and what it takes to get there.

a golden retriever puppy is scaling the wall of her crate. her front legs are draped over the top holding herself up, while her back right toes are gripping onto a bar of the crate. she realizes she's been caught and tries to play it cool with a casual smile. we would be remiss to leave out that she has a hamster water bottle attached to the side of her crate.
