It's been interesting to watch major media outlets put their climate reporting behind a paywall while other articles are not.

I understand the financial reasoning but worry about its overall impact. Climate hushing is bad enough as is; this is only going to make it worse.

It’s almost like collaborating peacefully to build clean energy projects (and not fighting wars over fossil fuels) is the future.

Reverend Jesse Jackson called on each of us to be heralds of change, to be messengers of hope; to step forward and say “Send me” wherever we have a chance to make an impact.

How fortunate we were that Jesse Jackson answered that call. What a great debt we owe to him.

Beware of bad actor messaging campaigns aimed to get you to not take action. They are popping up on my feed here more often.

One just said that “voting truly is the opiate of the masses,” as if voting isn’t the bare minimum way we should engage in our democracy.

Please keep voting 🙏

Yeah, but for a climate journalist to write an op-ed without talking to activists and then claim we aren’t doing anything is just straight up unprofessional.. even in times of fascism..

Has anyone had luck with using bentonite clay as a plastic-free pond liner?

I've used it to patch holes in landfill liners for years, and I can't believe I didn't consider it sooner for my backyard wildlife pond design.

Fifty years after New Zealand stopped whaling, humpback population showing signs of recovery Breeding is getting more competitive, suggesting the population is growing, a new study shows.

This is a marvelous change not only for the Humpback whale 🐋 population but for all of us. We need to keep our gentle giants from going extinct.

I love how I've trained my Bluesky algorithim to only show me climate, politics, trains, mushrooms, birds, and Star Trek. It's truly a breath of fresh air compared to the rest of social media.

Wildlife crossings are quickly becoming popular in the United States because they protect people, animals, and the economy all at once.

Trump has launched an unprecedented assault on the environment. Where’s the pushback? Climate deniers expected more resistance to the fossil fuel blitz. But Democrats, billionaires and activists have gone silent

Well, this was insulting to read as a scientist and activist who has been working overtime for the past year to reduce the damage the Trump administration is doing.

What I don't understand about climate doomers is how they refuse to accept the fact that every single fraction of a degree of warming we can prevent, whether that be now or in the future, will save lives and ecosystems. Also, adaptation exists, so there's no excuse to give up on activism.

Kentucky’s Rural and Urban Communities Unite over Climate Change A six-county climate action plan reshapes cooperation across political and geographic lines.

Y'all, I am once again in awe of organizing efforts in Eastern Kentucky because I advocated for a Northeast Tennessee-wide sustainability plan when I worked for the government, and not even the most progressive communities in the region were interested.

Here's to more Appalachian climate action!!

I've got videos from Helene getting traction online again, and the new comments are somehow worse than before. I'm crossing my fingers that it's just another targeted bot campaign.

If you believe people and ecosystems don't deserve help recovering from climate disasters because of who governs the area, then you don't actually care about addressing the climate crisis. You have a weird punishment kink, and you need to be called out for it because your behavior is harmful.

My in-laws have been talking about this since I met them years ago. They are extremely evangelical Christian and believe the world needs to turn on Israel so the second coming of Jesus / the Rapture can happen..

And what do you suggest we do instead? Shaming action without giving alternatives only helps bad actors.

Action is the anecdote to apathy, so if you saw the horrific news about our illegal strikes on Iran, I’ve got a quick call to action to demand that Congress intervene:

I've been feeling a bit guilty that I can't immediately replace the privet I just cut down in my backyard with natives (since I've got to kill the root system) because birds liked hanging out there, but I've recorded 17 different species in my yard this morning so I don't feel so bad anymore!

a man in a suit and tie making a face next to another man ALT: a man in a suit and tie making a face next to another man

Y’all try to tell the internet that agriculture uses more water on a global scale than data centers do at your own risk.

They are clearly not ready to hear it and will send you death threats for simply asking them to eat less beef + dairy if they are concerned about water bankruptcies.

How Police Let One of America’s Most Prolific Predators Get Away When a prosecutor began chasing an accused serial rapist, she lost her job but unravelled a scandal. Why were the police refusing to investigate Sean Williams?

Honestly? A police department that isn't complict in covering up crimes against women so I can finally feel comfortable reporting this stuff.

(This article is about my local police)

But that's wishful thinking, so getting more folks comfortable with speaking up about this behavior will be helpful.

I can’t even show screenshots of what TikTok’s local feed looks like for me because you’d quite literally be able to figure out what neighborhood I live in.

I understand the value of having a local feed, but it puts activists like me in danger because folks can figure out where I live.

TikTok’s new hyper-local algorithm is putting me in danger..

It keeps showing my videos first to the extremely conservative area I live in, and because of that, I can’t go out in public right now without getting hate recognized to the point where some put their hands on their gun when they see me..
