We should be honoured to host, teach and learn from these people not exclude them. I'm ashamed of our government.

He thinks it's noteworthy that a politician 'shows signs of having been not wholly honest, or naive, or both' at one point in his life. Really?
Given that the incident in question was a set up by a Sun 'journalist' should we also pretend to be shocked that the journalist was 'not wholly honest' >

What surprised me is that it's not a precursor to pride, at least not in these treatises. It's a sin against the vow of chastity, so it makes sense that monks were also admonished. If you aren't chaste, you can't sing the cantica nova with the angels...

The virtuous virtuose of Cremona YouTube video by Laurie Stras

Ever wondered why singing nuns were always criticised for vanity? When I realised I wasn't going to be able to go to Florence 😭😭 I made a video of my conference paper. Here it is, in all its #nuntastic wild-sources-strung-together-with-gossamer-threads-of-musicology glory.

I finally lost my shit about so-called AIs, LLMs, enshittification & everything fucking evil that @officialgrammarly.bsky.social is doing. I'm fucking furious, and not just about what 1 company has done. An open letter to Grammarly & the rest of the LLM hype machine www.moryan.com/an-open-lett...

Singing the news: the story of Italy’s last ‘cantastorie’ – still performing in his 90s Famous for combining true crime and political scandals into songs – and antagonising Silvio Berlusconi – Franco Trincale keeps the tradition alive in his nursing home

Saw this headline and thought @unamcilvenna.bsky.social has made the news! Apparently not, but it's part of the same tradition.

This is gonna be like a missing tooth all day. 'What is the point of this question and the underlying policy logic' is not a hard question to answer, and the minister of state *should be able to reach it from first principles* and *from being across the policy area*.

If you'd told me maybe three years ago that a UK news channel would be platforming someone to set out openly racist, far right, violent conspiracy theories, I'm not sure I'd have believed you. And yet here we are.

It doesn’t escape me that these are named after a woman and a teenage girl. It does not escape me that medical misogyny continues to kill.

Saw a thoughtful thread about AI, don't want to QT or argue. But. The biggest rage factor with LLMs is the people who, because genAI is transformative for coding, think it's transformative for everything else, because they devalue every other form of work and labor and knowledge.
