Remembering when Call the Midwife had a multi-series storyline about back street abortions. We’re not going back

It doesn’t escape me that these are named after a woman and a teenage girl. It does not escape me that medical misogyny continues to kill.

Saw a thoughtful thread about AI, don't want to QT or argue. But. The biggest rage factor with LLMs is the people who, because genAI is transformative for coding, think it's transformative for everything else, because they devalue every other form of work and labor and knowledge.

Followers in Texas, if you are voting in the primaries today, consider lending your support to Joe Jaworski. In this little corner of London that is forever Texas, we are rooting for you, buddy!! NB, I want to shake the hand of the Texas AG next time you are in town.

"But as the emails reveal, these same men did not see women as intellectual equals."

And the way AI is being developed and applied in billionaire-bro-dominated companies HARMS WOMEN AND CHILDREN and anyone who is already subject to discrimination.

heh. I note that Hive has "less than 10 available" so I guess I'll have to order it from the local bookshop.

I just shouted "fewer" at the computer. I need to get out more, so the walk will be handy.

Anyway at least the Commons now has someone actually qualified to lead the committee on repairing Westminster Palace.

You know, why not say β€œtree-huggers”? It’s equally vague but equally indicative.

Oh I’m not questioning that; it’s a straightforward assessment. I’m just wary of adjectives like β€œquirky” - it’s been used before to dismiss my work and the music we perform as unserious and of lesser quality compared to the Polyphony Bros. It’s an easy way to dismiss an entire demographic or field.

This happened to me the other day with β€œWhat A Fool Believes” - I had a private bop and I’m not ashamed

Dispatches from MN: it's getting really hard, guys. The media has left, the donations are drying up, and ICE is still here kidnapping people. It's hard not to be resentful that other people have the option of setting this aside for.other things.

"At the same time 35 disabled artists have informed Graeae they will also face cuts in tandem and suffer delays to funding of up to 15 months" - this is not about one person or one organisation - disabled people across the UK are under attack from Starmer's government.

25.02.2026 13:00 β€” πŸ‘ 10    πŸ” 9    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

The government is cutting Graea Directoe Jenny Sealey's Access to Work by 50% - not only a direct assault on her equal right to work, but what feels like a targeted attack on the capacity of a leading disabled organisation to speak truth to power and challenge and change culture. This is obscene.
