I do wish bills could be cleaner in the sense of being about one thing, with only directly related items being able to be added. So much of the special interests stuff gets thrown into these things that it becomes an unweildy mess

As with European countries they have to form coalitions, compromise appropriately, which helps avoid extremes. Our tiny independent parties have not followed that path and have tended to be extreme themselves
