Pete Hegseth lashed out at a CNN story on the failure to adequately plan for Iran closing the Strait of Hormuz.
But I looked at the story he's criticizing. He's full of shit. He's mischaracterizing the reporting:
newrepublic.com/article/2077...
"Covid will be over in two weeks. Gone by Easter"
"We're signing a health care plan within two weeks"
"They’re dying, Russians & Ukrainians. I want them to stop dying. I’ll have that done — I’ll have that done in 24 hours"
Based on his record, this isn’t ending anytime soon.

Omg 😂🤡
(not Tim Onion, the other two)
Do you guys remember when Michael Bloomberg wanted to reduce portion size in sodas and the right had to be physically removed from their fainting couches with construction cranes?
There are a lot of posts out there with the close-up visual of Markwayne Mullin on January 6, but this is a better perspective.
He’s not protecting others; he’s protecting himself and hiding. You can see plenty of people at the entry door, ready to take on the insurrectionists, but not Markwayne.
Thinking about the countless times Trump said Kamala Harris would get us into WWIII. It was so clearly projection, but I thought we'd be smart enough not to elect him.
Thank you to the American people who exercised their First Amendment rights to protest and film horrific abuses by Kristi Noem’s masked agents.
House and Senate Judiciary Committees held two oversight hearings exposing Noem’s corruption and abuse of power.
trump fired her today.
TONIGHT: Kristi Noem is sleeping her way to the bottom, and Trump is trying to hide his Iran disaster behind tacky drapes. The Breakdown airs at 7 PM EST: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9BdyW8KcYg
So much to catch up on…
HAHAH war is SO funny. This is the same rep who wanted to go after Bad Bunny, so it sounds like he's just doing and saying outrageous things for attention (shocking, I know).
Today has been a very busy day for clips. If you appreciate my efforts to bring you as many newsy ones as I can possibly handle, please support what I do by signing up for my newsletter. We're doing strong work every day at PN and paid subscribers make my clipping possible. Thanks.
I didn't think I could have less confidence in this government's war leadership.
Then Marco Rubio opened his mouth.
My God.
Still concepts of a plan.
Did they not anticipate airports being attacked? Makes you wonder what else they haven’t anticipated.

If you’re waking up to a war already in progress, the AP live update timeline will help you get up to speed.
EDIT: Actual wars.
Trump’s lil speech tanked, so they’re amping up the fascist fuckery. That’s all this is. So now we have Hegseth over at the DoD starting culture wars with higher education…and the boy scouts. Let’s just keep on keeping on. We’ll outlast them.
Judge Murphy’s decision on Wednesday affirms what we already knew: Kristi Noem and Donald Trump's are illegally deporting people to countries where they can be killed.
This is not how a world power should act.
The situation in Minneapolis: even though the ICE presence in the city is greatly reduced, and national attention has moved on, a huge portion of our population remains essentially in hiding, devastating the schools and economy. In particular, much of the education system remains in crisis
This is murder. ICE routinely deposits released detainees far from their home just to be cruel. It’s standard practice. To do this to a blind man on a wet cold winter day in Buffalo is to know you are potentially sending him to his death.
Every stage of this process - his arrest, spending a year in jail, being dumped on the streets to die - would be deeply shameful in a society that actually valued human life.
It’s wild that lawmakers can manufacture problems with zero data (just vibes!) and then make laws to strip people of basic human rights. Lawmakers should have to provide data and peer-reviewed research showing that the problem they’re trying to solve is real before they can even introduce a bill.
No show with Fanone tonight but I will talk about it on the Breakdown for sure.
Since they’re invalidating trans people’s driver's licenses, I'm assuming that if an officer ran someone’s license, it would come up as invalid.
Since when is the ability to safely operate a moving vehicle related to, or dependent upon, the organs found between the vehicle operator's legs matching a letter (M or F) on the front of the card given to designate that the holder HAS demonstrayed a minimal ability to safely operate said vehicles?
This brief exchange between strangers is the kind of thing that gives me hope.
