Oh gosh I had to write a bunch on a medical form this morning and I apologized so much to the receptionist who had to interpret my scrawl π£
Professor Tallie Everette, Esq, is ready to file a complaint about this egregious invasion of Kell's privacy and the slander to his fine character.
Tallie got dropped off at her dog sitter's late late last night, and then I got home to a text "You fed her dinner already, right? Because she is really insistent no one fed her" π€£
This is the face of a dog who absolutely is planning to explain to the dog sitter that she's starving:
βDanielle Citron, a prominent privacy expert who teaches at the University of Virginia School of Law, topped the βranking for β the second time in as many years. This time she was joined by six other women in the top 10β
I poured Kilkerran 12 into one of these and Kilkerran 8 Bourbon Cask into the other about 20 minutes ago and have since forgotten which was which. Impromptu blind tasting with kindle I suppose.
Tallie's take on waking up early to start the day
I dealt with patching my first XSS issue on Amazon in January 2000. It's *26 years* later and this is still the top ranked security bug. π

right? it doesn't seem so hard to me and yet. π€·ββοΈ
hiding all the sewing shortcuts under a lining is such a fabulous sewing hack π

this is a nice guide to hong kong seam finishing:

lovely but so much work!
The inability of some SDEs to write a good set of repro steps and expected/actual result is just π€― to me sometimes too. How are you coding if you can't do that clearly?
Honestly, I usually just zigzag them - and that's what I'll likely do to the armhole seam since I'm not doing sleeves on the lining & it will be exposed.
I love a hong kong seam finish but in a dress this fussy (lace underlined with silk & lined with bemberg) I'm being strategically lazy. π
Pressing flat like this is really just so I can press from both sides. Good pressing during construction is such an underrated but critical garment construction step! π For finishing them... It's going to be lined, so I'll be lazy about it & leave them pressed flat but otherwise alone.
to be fair, she is very gentle. but.... I had to tape the tissue paper in one spot that her nails got caught on after this short excursion. ππ€£π€ͺ
I'm in the middle of sewing a dress, and Tallie "helped" when I had to tetris the pieces onto the lace.
@gdbassett.bsky.social works in cyber insurance & might know?
peat is awesome!
But if you need easing in, Glenmorangie is great; then try their Quinta Ruban. Also Compass Box Orchard House is very light and non-peaty.
(I also recommended Oban, bc it's so lovely & not peaty if you're not ready for peat. Which is lovely, you should enjoy it, but I understand some folks are not there yet)
Whisky nerd lyfe: my pilot husband texted me bc his co-pilot, a bourbon drinker, wants a scotch recommendation for their post-dinner drinks. My go-to "you're a bourbon drinker, you should try" is Dalmore, thanks largely to @bobb2.bsky.social, so we will see if that work here too π
She is 95% floof by volume
re: play growls, you can hear her play growl here... I was trying to kick the ball for her to chase, but bc herding dog, she'd rather bite at my ankles and play growl than let me kick it.
Growling & barking in her sleep. I'm always so curious what in the world she's dreaming of when she does that! She only play growls when she's awake- is it a dream play growl? A real one? About what?
heh, my mom loves to tell me how many grandkids her sisters have & I remind her that Tallie is a fabulous grand dog π
Tallie heard that it's almost Friday
Both of my grandfathers were electrical engineers who worked at Bell Labs. Gee, and I wonder why I'm a nerd. π
(My mom's dad taught me electrical stuff when we did a home renovation when I was about 8 & he did the wiring for the house. Not just how to wire, but about current & magnetism & etc.)
Ned, I just had to carry Tallie out to pee under duress. I thought Shelties were from rainy Scottish islands??
wait, there may ever be an end to the NPM patching treadmill in sight? πππ
my Coastie loves to go on about how the USCG makes all their Academy grads learn to use a sextant while the Navy doesn't. I should ask him if that's still the case. π
They used to spend a long time on the Eagle plotting their location only with a sextant & then compared to actual location later.
Tallie is waiting patiently for Kell Walkies
