Since this guy came on board, Louisiana has had a record pertussis year, with 2 infant deaths in the state. Now RFK Jr gave him a promotion up to the CDC.

Collaborating minds think alike, processing information in similar ways in a shared task, study shows Whether great minds think alike is up for debate, but the collaborating minds of two people working on a shared task process information alike, according to a study published in PLOS Biology by Denise Moerel and colleagues from Western Sydney University in Australia.

When individuals collaborate on a shared task, their brains process information in increasingly similar ways, highlighting how teamwork shapes cognitive alignment. doi.org/hbcnzp

I don't really get how social norms haven't shifted in that direction after the life-changing pandemic we all went through. It's not rude or insulting to try to avoid getting infected. It's sensible and protective of self and others.

It's important not to normalise spreading germs around. If someone is ill with respiratory symptoms encourage them to self-isolate and not attend in person any work or social events (if they can afford it)... or at the very least wear a mask. Haven't we learnt anything from the pandemic?

Taking a break from the office building where everyone is currently absent, sniffling, coughing, or hoarse 😩 #MaskUp I unmask in my car to eat and drink to avoid catching viruses. I am lucky I get to do this and grateful to have avoided infections as a chronically ill person.

Today marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and the beginning of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

From November 25 to December 10, communities, organizations, governments, and partners across Canada join in confronting harmful norms, strengthen prevention, and create environments where everyone is safe and valued.

The urgency is clear.
🟣 Between 2018 and 2024, police-reported intimate partner violence (IPV) increased by 14%. In 2024, women and girls accounted for 78% of all IPV victims.
🟣 That same year, 42% of women who were killed died at the hands of a spouse or intimate partner, up from 32% in 2023.
🟣 Indigenous women and girls continue to face disproportionate harm: 61% have experienced IPV in their lifetime, compared with 44% of non-Indigenous women.

These numbers are more than statisticsβ€”they reflect families, communities, and systems that need our collective support and action.

Preventing gender-based violence is foundational to a safer, healthier, and more equitable Canada.

COVID isn’t an information blackout. It’s a psychological one.

Accepting the truth forces people to confront their own behaviour, past choices & consequences of the β€œback to normal” fantasy they helped create.

Denial is easier. β€œNo one told us” is their emotional escape hatch.

Oh they know.

The reason any utter of the word β€œCOVID” is met with awkward silence, abrupt subject changes, or mockery is no coincidence.

That’s what denial looks like when the stakes are too high for people to admit what they already sense.

You’re letting them off too easily.

If you have lasting brain-blood flow reduction, YOU. ARE. NOT. FULLY. RECOVERED!!! You have brain damage.

We MUST stop using the "fully recovered" phrase as a substitute for "after acute symptoms end." It's as bad as using "back during COVID." It's a nonsensical use of words.
