Deltochilum carinatum is a unique dung beetle from Ecuador that looks like it was designed by the same committee responsible for Batman's tech.
- "Rounded body, smooth curves, glossy finish..? Nonsense! Give me a boxy build, sharp edges, and a stylish matte look. We're gonna sell millions of these."
An accommodating blue dasher #invertebrates
I fully expect this topical hot take to go viral
My OPERA HOT TAKE: transplanting an opera into a wildly different time era than its original setting makes the opera less cohesive, and if you are new to opera, makes it less understandable.
AT BEST it is a neutral move.
Professor Plum being a cutie patootie <3
I had never seen this moth before despite spending most of my time outside.
I found out it is a Giant Leopard Moth and apparently quite rare. #InsectThursday #EastCoastKin #Gardening 🐛
Also, hello and a *hug*; long time no see, I'm not on social media as much these days :)
ALL MY PROFESSIONAL WORKLIFE HAS BEEN LEADING TO THIS MOMENT
and ALSO:
I AM GOING TO SPEND ALL DAY ON THIS TO ACHIEVE MAXIMUM CUTENESS
Professor Plum: growing like a champ, shockingly handsome, and being the bestest snake.

Did someone say it's #mothmonday? How about N. America's largest species, Hyalophora cecropia or Cecropia moth. Click the photo for full view. This is a living specimen.
This is a female and they are enormous. #insect #bugsky #invert #macro #macrophotography #sciart #nature #wildlife #photography
One of the coolest aspects of insect photography is the realization that colors and textures are CRAZY up close. What may seem like a solid color or a plain matte surface becomes something astounding up close. This net-winged beetle in the family Lycidae is one of my favorite pix of 2024 #bugsky 🌿
God *giggling*: They are gonna be so tiny.
Angel *writing*: ants... tiny... got it.
God *suddenly tearing up*: but omg so strong.
In case Evolution is listening, I would like these to remain this colour forever please :)
Inspired by the lyrics of this remix of the Jefferson Airplane song White Rabbit, which according to my Youtube Music recap, was my song of 2024.
(Btw, I know the lyrics are actually "the red queen's off with her head", but I like the wordplay of the mistake more)

With a Canadian election in the near future, how do I go about organizing a bloc of Voters for the Legalization of Madagascar Hissing Cockroach Pets?
And here's a pic of me and Professor Plum :D Unlike Miss Honey who is quite a spitfire, I have no problems putting him around my neck and getting a nice massage.
May I introduce my ~4mo old Jungle Carpet Python, Miss Honey :D She will only get more yellow and beautiful as she gets older.
A toucan I drew on my Supernote while at the ROM :) I still find it very hard to draw in public, but luckily I bumped into a big group of art students so I was able to blend in a bit.
I have yet to put it to the test with my snake-phobic family, but I think any nervous people who handled Professor Plum would have much of their fear melt away. He is such a nice and gentle boy.
And here's another piece. Guinea pigs will always have a place in my heart <3
A long time ago, when Project Zomboid was smaller in scope and ambition, I did a little concept artwork for our next planned project (now defunct). I still quite like them:
I GET IT :D
I don't care what anyone says about anthropomorphism, Professor Plum is smiling :)
