I can’t imagine the difficulties of being a Fascism scholar before we had the official definition provided by the eminence, Tom Nichols, as “fascism is only when you fear of posting things online”. It must have been just impossible!

I emailed DHS yesterday and they sent me a statement about this incident. But when I asked specifically what kind of weapon the woman who was shot allegedly had they didn't respond.

"Although [DHS spokesperson] McLaughlin said Martinez was 'armed with a semi-automatic weapon,' federal prosecutors did not charge Martinez with weapons violations, or allege she fired at federal agents."

It appears that the federal agents occupying Portland have people embedded with them charged with the task of producing stories presenting the government’s version of events. Ironically, this was the sort of work JD Vance did in Iraq before he decided he was against that war.

I learned who he was back in March when I was criticizing Dems and he popped up to ask why I wasn’t protesting in the streets. When I replied with photos from a recent protest I attended he said it didn’t count because I was protesting in the city where I lived rather than where Trump was.

A few months later he tried to return but decided it wasn’t worth it, opting to just post on the Nazi site instead.

It’s a movie with a great sense of humor. It was quite a balancing act but I think the levity in some of those scenes really helped.

Yes, it’s only a loose adaptation. The book takes place in the 60s and the 80s. The movie is the 2000s and today.

I should also make it clear that it's a hard film to talk about without spoilers. That's why the trailers were arguably weak. All of the most interesting plot points are hard to discuss without giving away key elements. Just go watch it without reading spoilers. It's a great movie.
