The Desire for Terror And the defense of democracy

A purpose of the war on Iran might well be to provoke a terrorist attack inside the United States, thereby justifying the need to “federalize” elections. We must anticipate it, with sadness and resolution, and not be surprised, if it happens.

there was also a Stanford study that found that a surge in AI slop by lazy people actually created significantly more work for others who had to decipher and correct it

this "I'm being efficient" (but not really) vibes well with the American obsession with artifice and appearing productive

Who could possibly have foreseen that war on Iran would (a) make Iran retaliate by closing the strait of Hormuz, which (b) could disrupt world oil markets, enriching Russia and penalizing most everyone else?

Who, indeed, except EVERYONE WHO HAS EVER THOUGHT FOR ONE MINUTE about the situation.

A colleague that gets it!

Excellent video explaining the abc’s of early childhood infections, and why getting a stack load of them, with maximum exposure methods is not good, and can be mitigated using simple measures.

Thank you!

The immune system is not a muscle.

It is a cleansing fire.

It causes collateral damage.

It has a limited supply of fuel.

It can get out of control.

Don’t burn your whole house down every time by catching every disease without caution.

Yes, but party still matter. Floor crossers should be forced to sit as independents. That would be the most ethical way to go at it.

And yet… officials were briefed, and nuclear capacity isn’t even a war goal. Absolute insanity. bsky.app/profile/chri...

Jfc. Can the rest of the world sue them? We are all going to be impacted, and all that to stroke big egos and make warmongering billionaires richer.

So many lives will be lost. It’s absolute insanity.

Quick addendum on this: the one part of the left that truly understood power was ... unions. Union organizers were never under the illusion that they could sweet-talk concessions from bosses with the right framing. They dealt in power.

That's why the right killed them.

If you want to beat them, figure out how to organize a bloc of economic actors whose material interests are served by the transition. Organize a bloc with *more power* and then *defeat* them. That's how this works. You're not going to fucking seduce them with your clever verbiage!

Good words of warning here. AI models are generally designed to read and incorporate (and, in a sense, believe) virtually everything they find online, with very few guardrails. The information can get divorced from its original source, context, & rebuttals or retractions. That's a really big problem

This is an active duty RCAF officer:

"For Armstrong, who is in his mid-40s, 'the ideal woman is childlike' ... Armstrong posted in a separate comment: 'The moment a girl has her first period, she is at her peak marriagability.'" [sic]

Screenshot of a news article from The Post titled “Repeatedly getting Covid doesn’t build immunity, ‘it’s more like accumulating damage’,” written by Melanie Earley of RNZ and dated March 10, 2026. Below the headline is a portrait of leading vaccinologist and associate professor Dr Helen Petousis-Harris, shown facing the camera against a dark background. The article discusses how repeated COVID-19 infections may cause cumulative harm rather than building lasting immunity.

"Leading vaccinologist Helen Petousis-Harris says there's not enough awareness of the impact of COVID-19 on overall health."

"What many people don't realise is that getting COVID repeatedly is not like building immunity, it's more like accumulating damage," she says.

Video appears to show U.S. cruise missile striking Iranian school compound The seven-second video was released by Iranian state media and directly contradicts statements made by President Trump, who said Iran was responsible for the strike.

The Iranian girls’ school was hit by a US tomahawk cruise missile. NPR has confirmed the footage.

If you just take in a little bit of culture and pop culture that maybe you normally wouldn’t, you will learn about the world. If you maybe just ask questions about the things that you are reading and listening to, you’ll learn that the world is more complex and more fascinating than you ever thought

Eh, what about Little St. James. I suspect some of the proponents of this idea have already been there, so it should feel like home to them already, no?

Now every commercial regardless of subject matter but also including things that require thought or consumption is just like "Have AI do handle it for you"

And I think that is bad. I think we are being hit with a weapon.

He’s not dumb, he’s dangerous. There’s no way he believes this to be true, but he’s playing to an audience and trying to help manufacture consent.

This repeats yet another pattern from the Iraq War. When the Iraqis did not behave as the Americans wanted — without the deference and gratitude that a foreign military occupier felt it was due — they became targets.

I've said for a few days now...they're going to destroy water supplies. This is what the Gaza experiment was for. Iran and Cuba will see their food, water, and energy completely cut off until they are starved to death. We are watching livestream ethnic cleansing on behalf of US corporations.

The archbishop makes an important point saying "gamifying strips away the humanity of real people"

This is the precursor and prerequisite for genocide. Losing our empathy is bad for *us*, not just the people we harm.
