I got the contract last night, and signed it. I had a voice chat with my boss here, and told him; I also sent it in an email for documentation purposes.

I'm *extremely* anxious and excited about this. I also have to spend a bunch of money up front.

(Because I have a Stamp 4, and can start my own company. Which is what I'm doing, and I'll be contracting with the Canadians. I'm not getting a pay raise from this, really. I'm a cheap date, what can I say.)

The past few days have been spent negotiating start date.

I enjoyed that, and learned a lot. But... my passion is operating systems, with an emphasis on filesystems and storage. And Klara (the Canadian company) posted on the OpenZFS slack that they were looking for a full-time engineer, and I told them "You know, I can do that now."

I've accepted a job for a Canadian company to do ZFS (and, to a lesser degree, FreeBSD and maybe macOS) stuff. For the past 4+ years, I've been working for an Irish company called Dope Security, writing the macOS network extension they need for their product.
