also so far the best thing about starting over with ARR after a very long time is that the ascians are such half-baked cartoon villains that early on that I can't be annoyed about seeing them

I will say that overall I don't like ARR's music nearly as much as... literally any of the expansions, and a lot of times how I feel about a game's soundtrack affects how I feel about the game lol

I mean there's some good shit in there of course but the expacs are so full of bangers

alphinaud is such an annoying little brat in ARR lmao, I had forgotten given all the character development

I feel such palpable relief at being able to 1) close my jaw all the way and 2) being able to chew on both sides of my mouth and 3) not having any pain in the affected molar

I have not yet stopped being absolutely shocked about cueing ever since learning about it

we should maybe also go back to teaching them to read

anyway I am continuing to be really mad at my computer and not knowing why it is having the problems it is having

I think it should be standard for kids to be taught in school not just how to handle finances but also how to cook simple meals and do other basic household tasks that people get stumped by when they live away from home for the first time but get embarrassed to ask about because they're "easy"

when I was in high school I had one class that touched on money management and it was basically "here's how to balance a checkbook and here's what a single adult's budget might have looked like in 1976"

of course there's a larger problem with kids (including myself) not being taught anything about managing money, let alone credit, in a world where it's so easy to damage your financial health so severely that you'll be cleaning it up basically forever, but, you know, system working as intended

I just wish I had been given even the bare minimum of info on how CCs can/should be used rather than being told "never get one, the end" because it is so incredibly easy to fuck yourself up for years and years into the future if you don't even fully understand what using a credit card means

I mean not that credit scores are not also a complete garbage racket but it is the current system so

I understand why my mom was always like "never get a credit card" because credit card debt is the devil and making my life VERY difficult, but also I didn't learn about credit scores until I moved out and had no credit history or knowledge of why that was important

I was better at video games before I really started playing video games and knew how to Generally Play Video Games, like I beat fallout 1 when I was a kid understanding how literally zero systems in the game worked
