110 Million Pounds Of Plastics Collected From World's Oceans The Ocean Cleanup claims a record haul of plastic waste as its innovative technologies and strategies continue to make significant progress.

110M pounds of plastic removed is real progress, but the ocean crisis is still upstream. Rivers and poorly managed urban waste continue feeding marine pollution at scale. Cleanup matters. Prevention matters more.

The Great Shearers' Strike of 1891 | AWHC Great Shearer's Strike of 1891 was a watershed in the history of working conditions in Australia and major catalyst in the growth of the Australian Labor Party.

Criminalisation of speech in Queensland, Australia is shocking the world. Queenslanders aren't terribly surprised by it all.Workers & students have been protesting, being arrested & sent to prison by unjust govts since at least 1891. #qldpol www.australianworkersheritagecentre.com.au/discover/the...

Labor has wasted $53 billion on tax concessions for wealthy property investors since 2022. A further $190 billion will be wasted if Labor fails to wind back the capital gains tax discount & negative gearing. This foregone revenue should have built public & affordable housing.

‘Worst thing I’ve ever seen’: CSIRO slashes climate modelling jobs Australia’s science agency is cutting more than 100 jobs in its Environment Research Unit, which critics say will crush our capacity to predict climate change.

CSIRO have now lost more jobs under the Albanese Governmet than under the Abbott Government.

We have to do better on research funding and backing our scientists.

Last month, University of Wisconsin-Madison Chancellor Jennifer Mnookin approved a proposal to establish a College of Computing and Artificial Intelligence funded by private corporations and philanthropy.
Mnookin said the move was a response to the inevitable creep of artificial intelligence into all disciplines of academia. Rather than reject AI, she envisioned a university that capitalized on this change by making artificial intelligence a "hub" connecting the humanities to computer science. On the first day of my economics elective this spring, my professor said we would be expected to use NotebookLM to pass his class. He had lengthened the coding assignments so that they would be doable only with the help of AI. The reading assignments were longer, too: ten 40-page papers per week, which he asked us to feed into AI for a summary rather than read ourselves. When it came to lectures, he told us to simply upload the slides to AI and ask it to teach us whatever he failed to explain properly in class.

BLEAK. Bleak. I’d been paying attention to Columbia selling out its governance to the Trump admin, not so much its stance on AI.

Boss made a dollar
Grandad made a dime
But that was a poem
From a simpler time

Boss made a thousand
Gave pa a cent
But that penny paid the mortgage
Or at least it paid the rent

Now boss makes a million
And gives us jack
Smugly blames the workers
For the labor that he lacks

Deforestation isn't progress—it's betrayal of future generations. Amazon lost millions of hectares historically, Congo rising despite being vital carbon sink. Every choice counts: support sustainable living, demand zero-deforestation policies. We shape their inheritance. 🌏 #ProtectAmazonCongo
