Godwinson, a recent convert to Bolshevism from his former Trotskyite beliefs, had only just fended off Harald Hadrada, aka 'The Mensheviking'.

If you have a @financialtimes.com subscription, I suggest you read this. It's a jaw-dropping account of, to put it politely, monumental ambition being thwarted. Terrific work by @alisonkilling.bsky.social and the FT imagery team!

This was one of the best articles I've read this year. The visual and interactive imagery were great too. Fantastic job!

Great Britain has run on 100% clean power for record 87 hours in 2025 so far Clean-energy sources have powered Great Britain entirely for a record 87 hours this year β€” a milestone toward 2030 targets

Britain ran entirely on clean energy for 87 hours this year – a fiftyfold rise since 2021. Proof that progress is real, even if there’s a long road to 2030’s clean-power target.

The world has lost its most powerful advocate for nature and hope. Yet many remain who will continue her legacy and I know she will continue to inspire generations more.

Just write an article on parametric insurance. I think *extremely* narrowly defined payout triggers would be likely. "Oh, your living room wall was demolished by a human mutant, not a 30 storey lizard or cosmic entity? Sorry, can't help."

All of this. IMO, politicians need to argue that this is about us as an honest, decent, dependable and open-minded nation, and not perfidious and xenophobic (& unwilling to guarantee the rights of citizens or businesses). The economic argument is a buttress to that!

It's a racist lie, all of it, every word. The claims it is based on are false in fact, and repellent in morality. Merely having said it out loud without being unanimously howled down marks another moment of shameful descent for us as a nation.

22.09.2025 12:48 β€” πŸ‘ 83    πŸ” 30    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I must have missed the announcement that ethics and morality were surplus to politics. Is it simply too woke to say 'this is a nasty, racist proposal from a serial grifter that betrays every notion of fair play and decency'?

That's fair. They deserve another chance β€” provided they admit they screwed the pooch before, to terrible effect, and have learned from it.

I've never voted LibDem, but after ten years and four leaders, surely the LibDems should be allowed the chance to claim they made mistakes but have changed?

(To be clear, 'gaming a CV' is about placement and emphasising certain words/phrases, not lying!)

22.09.2025 08:52 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

I totally agree. I had a career adviser talk me through gaming my CV for ATS. Even then, I needed a friend to recommend me to one company exec to get a first interview. Auto job applications and ATS have broken the system to the point that networking/contacts are even more crucial!

Great and nuanced take, @stephenkb.bsky.social. I can only hope the government's ministers and SPADs read it and start thinking of effective messaging around it! (I'm a dewy eyed optimist like that)

They're about to release a Kickstarter update to the game too. I'm waiting for it to arrive in the coming weeks! Looks like Alien Earth may have made some of the fluff redundant (and I'm not sure how Aliens' Colonial Marines sit in the fully corporatised universe)

I've been disappointed by Starmer but willing to give him some benefit of the doubt. Until yesterday. His failure to communicate the bare minimum of principles (ie racism, intolerance and violence and those who pursue them should have no place in our society) has me furious.
