You're not gonna believe this but @cbsnews.com appears to not have a story about some of the largest mass protests in American history anywhere on its main page.

Emergency rally against Fenway Health's capitulation to Trump today at 4:00.

The institutions that are supposed to protect us cannot toss aside Transgender people to protect LGB people.

We are all in this together.

The deepest quiet worry here is not that he's posting AI video of himself pretending this is real.

The deep concern is that they are testing AI video of him to see if we can still tell it's AI. Because if your ideologue dies and you have no maga cult, you lose power, unless you can convince them

Cannot be repeated enough: this was not a voluntary resignation program. Workers were told they were more valuable in the private sector, that they might be fired from their jobs, that they could expect no reasonable work accommodations, that they would work for leaders who were undermining services

How Democracies Fall Apart - Dissent Magazine An interview with Adam Przeworski.

Every time I read @adamprz.bsky.social reflecting on his life and work, I am in awe. Though I have never met him, and we move(d) in different circles, his reflections speak deeply to me.

One of the last intellectual giants in the field representing an increasingly different discipline.

While Stephen Miller claims that Democrats calling him a fascist constitutes incitement, there are hundreds of examples of Miller publicly calling Democrats fascists.

it's really jarring to see how little media attention the assassination of Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman, her husband Mark and their dog Gilbert received in comparison to the notable death of a non-elected leader of a right-wing organization.

i think one thing people have a hard time grasping is that the central figures of the trump administration are not bad as in "the worst republican blowhard you know," but bad as in "the worst people you have ever heard of." donald trump is a serial rapist whose best friend was a pedophile.

It’s an absolute shame that DC fired Gretchen Felker- Martin for exercising free speech and then @bsky.app suspended her account. Every writer here should be decrying this because we have to stand up for each other! This is ridiculous.

We Must Not Posthumously Sanitize Charlie Kirk's Hateful Life Influential anti-LGBTQ+ activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated on Wednesday. While condemning violence is something most can get behind, sanitization of his hate has gone too far.

There has been a rush among centrists like Gavin Newsom and Ezra Klein to brush over the hateful life of Charlie Kirk and valorize the man.

Let me be clear, killing Charlie Kirk was wrong and abhorrent.

We must condemn murder without sanitizing a man who built his empire on hate.

My latest piece.

Why your neighbors need you to oppose fascism Through Shakespeare, Kurt Vonnegut reveals how minds are made up.

It’s always worth remembering that we may never be as free as we are today. And the risks of protesting and non-cooperation may never be lower.

Why should I write better when a machine can do it for me?
Because actually no one can do it for you, because your voice is unique among all the people on earth. Siri never petted a horse's neck. Alexa has never been ghosted by the captain of the football team. But you have lived, your heart is beating, you have suffered, and you have something important to say. It's a human's job, to use words, and whatever job you give to a machine, that part of your brain goes dark. Maybe it's worth it when it comes to remembering phone numbers and directions, but when that part of your brain that uses words goes dark, that's a vast area that's very close to your soul. Don't let some internet platform convince you that what you have to say and create isn't worthwhile. Words are the echo of your soul. Honing that echo matters.
