Note on household analogies

Note on household analogies

The very first thing the Prime Minister does is use the household budget metaphor.

A metaphor - this report into BBC coverage - said could be "easily misleading."

Why is the government trying to mislead the country?

Believe it or not, this scene didn't seem to concern British censors when it was first submitted to them. The distrib wanted an A (the equivalent of today's PG), so they just trimmed some of the nastier bits. But sexy gals who like to take it ALL off? No problem! 😉🤣

Nobody wants NF to probe Russian influence on Reform. That would be like asking Boris Johnson to 'launch a probe' into Partygate - we all know what the result would be. Unless, of course, the result of any such probe is itself subject to a more serious investigation by the relevant authorities...

There may be "nothing new in ZP's fantasy economics", but PLENTY that's hidden from the public to persuade them austerity is an economic - rather than a political - choice. 'Debt'. 'Borrowing'. 'Interest repayments'. All misnomers, designed to mislead. Hateful lies with real world consequences.

How on earth can you possibly be racist and/or antisemitic in a way that *isn't* hurtful or insulting?...

True enough. But we can't rely on the American people NOT to elect someone just as bad as Trump (or worse) in the future. They've done it twice already. Which is why ZP is right to suggest replacing NATO with something less reliant on the US. We just can't take the chance.

Like immediately 'shutting down' the hugely important point that the economy is NOT like a household budget, and any attempt to maintain that fiction acts as cover for austerity politics. ZP ain't having none of it... 😉

UK Budget’s pensions tax raid to raise over £3bn Expected move by chancellor Rachel Reeves next week faces strong pushback from businesses

Taxes don't 'raise' anything in a monetarily sovereign fiat currency regime such as ours. £3bn of taxation is £3bn removed from the economy. What matters is the effect on the overall economy of the government's fiscal actions of spending money into existence and taxing it out of existence.

That bit on the cover should have read: "Leave Nato (but ONLY after we've replaced it with something better, ie. less reliant on an increasingly unstable US)". ZP's enemies like to use only the first two words as a stick to beat him with...

"Is it not time that we had a proper consideration in this House of changes to the voting system, so that the next election is not a disaster for democracy?"

Reform's former Leader in Wales, Nathan Gill, a 10.5 year jail term for taking bribes from the Kremlin.

Cosied up to authoritarian powers & traded principles for payoffs. Reform's leadership laughably claimed they barely knew Gill.

Will all this be on tomorrow's front pages?

23,000 lives lost in the 1st wave alone.

The tragedy is that this bastard and his lickspittle lackeys won't see the inside of a courtroom - let alone a jail cell! - for any of this. Which means future lazy self-serving bastards will get the message loud and clear: Do it again, you won't be touched.

Thankfully, ZP has clearly anticipated what he would face and has an answer for all the shit they try to throw at him. He faces it down, which means it will eventually (hopefully) go away. Farage just throws a tantrum ("Look, luv...") whenever he's asked anything even remotely substantial.

Doesn't get nearly as much love as the (excellent) first film, but is easily my own favourite of the original trilogy. I mean, they tried to top the plate-glass death scene and at least managed to equal it! What's not to admire?!...
