Province retools OSAP, whittling grants down to new all-time low The Government of Ontario is revamping the Ontario Student Assistance Program (OSAP) and fundamentally changing the game for post-secondary students province-wide.

ICYMI: While the gov't announced new funding for universities and colleges, it is also downloading more costs onto students by cutting OSAP grants.

What's the Ford government's long game with the school board takeovers? - Seekr One by one, Ontario school boards are being taken under the control of the provincial government, as Education Minister Paul Calendra says is in an attempt to fix reported financial mismanagement. Instead, the ministry has either appointed supervisors to oversee boards, or in some cases, Calendra himself will take direct control - a job he claims comes with no extra pay.

Ontario colleges, universities ask Ford government for billions in new funding | Globalnews.ca Groups representing both colleges and universities asked for significantly more funding, saying tuition fee freezes and international student caps have left them with few options. 

ON universities are the lowest funded in Canada per student, at 55% of the nat'l average. Yrs of tuition freezes & cuts have led to $1.3B in projected deficits, 600 suspended programs & 8,000 lost jobs. These are choices by the gov't. Fund post-secondary education NOW!
