🌳🐟At the first ever Swedish Biodiversity Symposium, held in Gothenburg the past 3 days, CeMEB members shared their work on adaptation of marine species in general (Kerstin Johannesson) and the invasive Pacific oyster in particular (Pierre De Wit) in a session dedicated to genetic diversity🧬

🧬🧬🧬And that's a wrap: #CeMEB2025 has been concluded. What a great experience! For the first time, the assembly was held outside of Tjärnö Marine Laboratory, and what a success it was! Thanks to all speakers, organisers, helpers & attendants! See you next year! And yes, we have become kids-friendly😉

The 3rd and final day of #CeMEB2025 started with another great keynote lecture by Professor Karin Rengefors from Lund University, on phytoplankton diversity and adaptation!🧬

After insightful discussion sessions, the 2nd day of #CeMEB2025 ended with an absolute highlight: at a dinner at one of the traditional Uppsala student unions. Amazing food, traditional Swedish songs, and even a final quiz testing our evolution knowledge!

The afternoon of the 2nd day of #CeMEB2025 was filled with a very unique program, including a guided tour of Uppsala botanical gardens and of the Open Lab and sequencing facilities at SciLifeLab Uppsala. Highly impressed by the infrastructure open to all scientists in Sweden!

After this morning's keynote, we continue with talks by our one and only Kerstin Johannesson (The ecotype concept in the genomic era) and by Erik Zhivkoplias (The innovation potential of marine-derived genetics) from the Stockholm Resilience Center. #CeMEB2025

2nd day of #CeMEB2025 Assembly started with an amazing keynote talk by Aneesh Bose (SLU) on behavioural ecology of cichlids! A very insightful addition to all the genomics-based studies at our assembly! And what a setting, in the beautiful Humanistiska teatern of UU...

Before we end the day with poster session and some snacks and drinks, Professor Carol Eunmi Lee of the University of Wisconsin, Madison is giving the final keynote talk of the day - Live from the US - on genome architecture and habitat invasion!🧬 #CeMEB2025
