Congratulations @castanedalab.bsky.social on this beautiful work! 👏🏻 This is a must read for #IDP enthusiasts. We discussed this work as a preprint in our lab journal club and it was a fan favorite that provides exciting new insights into how multivalent interactions control biology.

I am recruiting postdoctoral fellows to develop new research directions in the lab. We study transcriptional regulation through biomolecular condensates in development and disease, with an emphasis on first-principles and mechanistic discovery. Please repost or share with colleagues.

This work was led by Jamie and Emma, two outstanding early stage graduate students, with support from rotation student (and former tech) Garrett and Stu from the UNC Biomolecular NMR core. Please join me in congratulating them for their first (of many) papers from our group!🎉

New preprint alert! We share some of our recent insights about sequence similarity in IDP protein families and find that conservative substitutions in well-conserved binding motifs of the CITED proteins have big impacts on their ensembles and functions. Take a look!

Happy Holidays from the Berlow Lab! I'm incredibly grateful to be closing out this year with such a hardworking, fun, and collaborative team.

We are already looking forward to sharing some exciting updates in the new year, so stay tuned for lots of great science (and more) in 2026!

Hey all, I reached out to the PO of my NIGMS MIRA to ask if the gov't shut down, and rescheduling of study sections, might allow for some accommodation to the standard rule that PIs cannot resubmit a MIRA while their MIRA (or other RPG) is under review (waiting in scores or summary statements) 🧪

The damage to science is irreparable. Scientists who are valuable are leaving now. This offered some hope, but now it’s clear reason has completely gone out the window.

A sad day for science.

For local people impacted by the storm: please call 211 for resources. They did not have any information a couple days ago, but they have now partnered with companies like Airbnb to offer temporary housing and other relief.

My dear friends and neighbors have been displaced from their home in Chapel Hill due to flooding from Sunday night’s storm. The number of families displaced by the floods are being hugely underreported and many people in our community need our help. Please help if you can.

A *huge* problem. It also includes search committee positions, review requests, letters of recommendation, P&T reviews (so, so many of these post tenure)—it goes on and on. And the social penalties for women saying no are so dramatically higher than when men say no.
