Insanely brutal reward for Simeone considering the quality and effort his side have shown to get to the stage they are at. Got to beat the best to be the best, but I’m not sure any teams legs could handle that run of games without faltering someway - if they do come through, watch out Europe/La Liga

Are there rules against lying on one end of that badge banner and rolling yourself up in it like a burrito? Is that disrespectful? Or is it like a shared hug of respect?

When the jesters become the counsellors then the whole court becomes a joke. How does anyone take her seriously? Absolute nonsense

#Atalanta have seemingly just come apart with the loss. From the headloss red card, to Gasperini’s comments, to Lookman essentially ensuring an exit. Crumbled under the #championsleague lights. Really surprising considering their quality and Europa performance last season, thought they had a chance

Surely can’t be that hard to simply avoid places that have a history of deep anti-Western sentiment and a history of levelling bogus charges of espionage against individuals visiting them in order to trade them for more high value political prisoners or economic concessions. Why go?

Please tell me you plan to replace this with the “Seven Times Weekly Soccer Update”? It’s not as catchy but I need to have some sort of way to have everything I need to know about the football in under ten minutes!

Rules are, I had to find a decent picture - drawings and shoddy shots not allowed.

Boots, shorts and socks also not allowed. This is an upper half business.

And then I did the same for 1991/92 First Division - should have used this time to write the next great novel

For anyone interested, in my free time between Christmas and New Year I have been a huge nerd and made a Pinterest Board containing every shirt/jumper/jacket for every team in the English First Division for 1990/91. I use my time productively.

Just need to score an any minute equaliser or winner away and we might just stay in the Championship!

Do you think some of the success stories of the Nations League (e.g. Scotland, San Marino) has justified its existence in the place of friendlies?

Secondary question if the answer is yes - do we therefore need to reduce some of the club game schedule to accommodate the Nations League?

Obviously it might be my English bias, and it’s fair to say Bellinghams goal scoring had dropped off in the second half of last season, but nullifying one of their best forward players (and an £80m signing) to accommodate Mbappe seems a huge error. Never mind that it’s done the same to Vinicius.

You have my vote. I also did you as a write in in the General Election, and I will be putting you in as a write-in in my local council elections. You have my vote in every single thing I vote in.

A man who temporarily stepped into a role where you inevitably get a lot of flack, immediately received that flack for various reasons, then left. A microcosm we can use to represent the relationship between some loud parts of England and the English Press with its team and managers.

I will move on to away shirts in the near future, before declaring the official GOAT shirt of the tournament - prize of a hearty compliment if you can guess what I’ll declare! If anyone has alternative ratings or wants to start a virulent debate about my ratings above, please feel free.

And the surprise winners Denmark, who didn’t even qualify for the competition but got in as Yugoslavia had to drop out. The Hummels design lets this deviate from the Adidas template many others have. The style has this air of cool, and I’d only wear this adorning aviators. I give this shirt 8/10.

Finalists losers Germany, something you very rarely get to say about the Germans, are a country which frequently smashes their shirt design. The 1988 shirt was the best of all time, but this shirt certainly earns its stripes (boom boom). Great vintage, great design - I give this shirt a 9/10.

Netherlands were the other surprise exiteers, having won the last Euros and starring Van Basten and Bergkamp. The vivid orange screams football heritage, but the collar and brush stroke pattern give this a unique look that wins it some style points - a 7/10, great for festivals.

The hosts Sweden were the first to get knocked out in the semi-final round. The yellow and blue is another great colour palette (although blue and yellow is not), and with these colours, this collar and that panelling this shirt screams 90s. A vintage banger, I give this shirt an 8/10.

Pipping them to third was Scotland starring commentator Ally McCoist, continuing their historical tradition of not making it through to knockouts. The Scottish shirts of this era were always fantastic, and I’d argue this a genuine nice design I’d wear to a nightclub. I bequeath this shirt an 8/10.

Bottom of Group B was the Commonwealth of Independent States - the Soviet Union had qualified then fallen apart before the tournament, so their team went under this new name. The USSR typically did a great shirt, but the CIS does not - too standard. I give this shirt a 4/10 (for historicity, 10/10)

Just above them were France, starring Cantona and Deschamps. A team not at the peak of their past and yet to know the good times that would come, the shirt isn’t France’s best - but luckily for them, the French colours just look good always. The shoulder panels are very 90s. I give this shirt 7/10.

Starting with the two teams that didn’t make it through Group A, bottom of the pack was the England of Gary Lineker. The shirt was a continuation of the shirt for Italia 90, which makes sense as the trim is fantastic. As a man who loves his country and loves a fine design, I give this shirt a 9/10.

Thought I’d have some very individual fun on my first thread on here, by posting my entirely subjective ratings of the shirts of the 1992 Euros.

Held in Sweden across 4 cities, with 8 teams, and 32 goals scored across 15 matches, and a mad cupset - but were the shirts worth remembering?
