Yeah I am unaware of even an attempt at a global analysis of what was played 2020-21 other than universal number go up. I have a suspicion, pure speculation, that “what we played” in the pandemic is actually what anglophone audiences watched people play as streaming viewership went through the roof.

This is a great piece from Lewis. Keza’s comment makes me wonder about how to draw the bounds of the “we” in games today: I didn’t play those games in peak pandemic (I played CoD) and I’m not playing these games now (I’ve gone to the tabletop, a much different kind of sociality).
