Also @josiahgray.bsky.social Thanks for your C1 comment. I had been feeling that it was a little too much telling and needed to be cut. But none of my beta readers found it an issue. I knew it all long, but having another writer say it helps so much. It wasnt all just in my head! Very appreciated.
Thank you, I read yours too just now and left you a comment. I'm a fantasy romance girl, so it's not my usual type of genre, but wow, I loved your work. Extremely immersive. Brilliant wiring. Best of luck!

Making it to the short list is just as good as winning for me. Writing competitions like The Letter Review are so competitive, and to get a mention is a dream come true ❤️
Best news to wake up to ❤️ I thought I’d try writing creative nonfiction to learn something new, and this is where I currently am. Wow! Women on Writing is a very competitive comp. I beat 217 other essays to get to this point, and even if I don’t place, being long-listed is enough for me 🥰
I am so excited to announce that my short story "Ghostlight" was the winning entry in the writing category for the Australian Horse Performance Magazine's Art Competition. This story meant so much to me. I loved writing it, and I loved entering into a competition that supported an amazing charity.
Being a writer is 10% typing and 90% staring into the middle distance wondering if that comma ruined your entire soul.

The best article I have ever read on showing vs telling 😍

Writing a novel is 10% inspiration, 90% googling “how long can someone survive without sleep”, and deleting the same sentence 12 times.
My characters keep doing things I didn’t plan. I think they’ve unionised.
Anyway, word count is a social construct.
