Anyway go to and support and help with narrascope, metatopia and other smaller blooms of practice-sharing wherever they sprout! Big events are extremely hard to sustain and even smaller ones are huge lifts. It would be tragic to lose this unusual culture of communal sharing.

Kuzco loses his abilities near the beginning of the movie, he and Pacha learn various skills to traverse different obstacles. there's a sequence where they backtrack through an area they ve been through and cross it more efficiently

The is the federal government telling news stations to provide favorable coverage of the war or their licenses will be pulled.

A truly extraordinary moment.

We aren't on the verge of a totalitarian takeover. WE ARE IN THE MIDDLE OF IT.

Act like it.

Fluffy gray tabby lounging on his side, in a sun flare-drenched pic where his whiskers and ear tufts are backlit nicely.

contrary to expectation: the sun came out

Left: Minimal line art drawing of a cat that is enclosed in a pink rectangle. Label: Kitten is completely full of crimes

Right: the same cat art but twice the size. The same size rectangle covers only the bottom of the cat. Label: Adult cat contains the same amount of crimes but it does not dominate all of their behaviors

Black and white photo of a shorthaired kitten, mostly white but with some color on his face and head - maybe ginger. He looks very confident and tough. The word “Snowball” is written in tiny white letters at the bottom of the pic.

“Snowball” looks like he smokes unfiltered cigarettes. Postcard from my collection - no date.

Inititives like this are a huge part of how developers in Canada, Germany, and other countries with such grants were able to wind up such flourishing indie scenes tbh

Fluffy gray tabby with big gold eyes, sitting on the back of the couch and staring out through a window. He looks idly curious but not very impressed.

Yeah monetization is I increasingly think the original sin behind a lot of what ails the internet today. Eyeballs are what get you money, and a glazed over eyeball counts the same as an active and informed eyeball. Over time the tendency is always towards engagement bait.

I've been saying this for a while:

Bullying CORPORATIONS is good and works.

Bullying a regular person who bought in - even for a moment - to the LARGEST, MOST AGGRESSIVE MARKETING PUSH IN THE HISTORY OF MANKIND is probably going overboard.

It sucks. It is likely to suck for some time yet to come.

I actually think I might agree with this argument, and that’s a high bar.

for what it’s worth, being able to recognize that and seek out other ways of happiness / satisfaction / etc. is crucial. the only way to survive rather than let it turn you into a husk of a person.

I really love both the writing on the moment to moment level — it’s often a mixture of understated and “what it’s like to be in one’s 20s” — and the paper writing minigame. it has a lot to say about what it means to be a writer in the world.
